Literature Review
& theory
Oil and gas emissions vary widely throughout the supply chain, making mitigation of both super-emitters
and emissions sources near populations top priorities for public health and climate, according to findings
from a literature review by the nonprofit energy science and policy institute Physicians, Scientists, and
Engineers (PSE) for Healthy Energy. "Methane and Health-Damaging Air Pollutants From the Oil and Gas
Sector: Bridging 10 Years of Scientific Understanding" is the first systematic review to bridge the gap
between research on sources of methane and sources of health-damaging air pollutant emissions throughout
the oil and gas supply chain.
"There is unequivocal evidence that we must rapidly and aggressively reduce methane emissions to avoid
catastrophic changes to our climate," said the review's lead author, PSE Healthy Energy Senior Scientist
Drew Michanowicz, DrPH, MPH, CPH. "Because methane is nearly always emitted alongside other health-
damaging air pollutants, we should be urgently focusing on eliminating methane pollution near where
people live as a critical and cost-effective strategy to protect public health."
Oil and gas sources of methane emissions are nearly always sources of health-damaging air pollutants
(HDAPs). However, not all sources of HDAPs are sources of methane.
Super-emitters of both methane and HDAPs are present in every sector of the oil and gas supply chain,
providing clear evidence that substantial emissions reductions are possible.
To increase public health benefits, prioritize oil and gas emissions reductions near population centers.
Efforts to reduce fugitive emissions (i.e., venting and leaks) throughout the oil and gas supply chain will
result in the co-reduction of emissions of both methane and certain HDAPs.
A comprehensive approach to reducing methane and HDAP emissions should include installing
maximum achievable equipment controls, conducting routine preventative maintenance, and integrating
new monitoring technologies to improve upon existing operational and maintenance practices such as leak
detection and repair programs.
While the geographic location of methane emissions does not affect their climate impact, proximity to
sources of health-damaging air pollutants increases health risks and impacts. In the papers reviewed, the
authors found no evidence that sources of methane emissions are not also sources of health-damaging air
pollutants. The researchers did find infrastructure, particularly within the upstream oil and gas sector, that
emitted health-damaging air pollutants without methane.
The review aimed at updating and enriching the literature on the meaning, uses, origin, formation, exploration,
processing and products of petroleum, major petroleum producing countries, octane number, the petrochemical
industry and petroleum and the environment. It used the table research method to synergise dated and current reports.
Petroleum or rock oil probably originated from underground organic matter or due to chemical reactions in the sky
thousands of million years ago. It consists mainly of a mixture of gaseous, liquid and solid hydrocarbons which are
broken into various products by fractional distillation during refining. From the medieval times, petroleum has been a
source of energy and recently predominated the synthesis of organic compounds. Petroleum exploration and use have
some environmental challenges.
The authors reviewed 270 pieces of peer-reviewed literature on primary data collection efforts published
between 2015-2020 to identify characteristics of emissions sources where health- and climate-damaging
emissions occur simultaneously and separately. A supplemental review of research on methane and HDAPs
spanning 2010-2014 is provided in the appendix. The report highlights high-impact approaches to emission
control across the upstream, midstream, and downstream portions of the oil and gas sector to protect the
climate and public health.
The literature review was authored by Drew R. Michanowicz, DrPH, MPH, CPH; Eric D. Lebel, Ph.D.;
Jeremy K. Domen, MS; Lee Ann L. Hill, MPH; Jessie M. Jaeger, MPH, MCP; Jessica E. Schiff; Elena M.
Krieger, Ph.D.; Zoya Banan, Ph.D.; Curtis L. Nordgaard, MD; and Seth B.C. Shonkoff, Ph.D., MPH.
This finding suggests that the health and cost benefits of reducing methane emissions from the oil and gas
sector are undervalued and that reducing these emissions near human populations will ensure climate
mitigation efforts also benefit public health. However, the findings also indicate that efforts to reduce
methane emissions will not capture all sources of health-damaging air pollutants. As such, in addition to
targeting methane sources, regulators and risk managers should incorporate strategies that reduce health-
damaging air pollutant emissions, particularly from oil and gas infrastructure that is located near where
people live, work, and play.

STUDY
3.1 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
To Evaluate and examine the employee details are kept who works on the
petrol pump, so there will not be any problem for their payment calculation
To Analyze the Existing Sytstem and Keep a record of all the liquid in the
system.
To empirically assess pertolpump management as a tool for improving services.
The study the process and methods of existing petrolpump management system.
We developed software that could fulfill all the drawbacks of the previous software’s.
Many of the systematic review found were focused on management information of organization,
school management system.
Limited study was found to systematically review petrol station management system.
In order to address this gap, this study seek to conduct a systematic review on studies that
has examined petrol station management system.

BACKGROUD OF FIRM
This is the activity of Petrol Pump management system which shows the flows between the
activity of Inventory fules, tankers, stocks and Sales.
Analytic tools help petrol pump staff manage stock, plan inventory, improve fuel price risk
management, and increase sales and accounting. Overall, analytical tools make petrol
pumps capable of staying ahead of the curve and making informed decisions that yield
positive results, from a financial and an operational perspective .
Petrol Pump manaegement software is capable of generating accurate stock reports which
are specific to individual petrol pump requirements. If you want to observe the opening and
closing stock of particular days or of days with unusually high or low number of customers,
the stock report can be modified accordingly.
Such reports not only help in knowing current stock volumes but also in inventory planning,
studying profit margins and determining cash flow.
Inventory planning helps create better strategies for fuel handling, right from acquisition
until it is sold to the consumer. It helps figure out steps at which fuel is wasted, and
accordingly preventive measures can be taken.
Moreover, profits can also be increased as inventory planning allows for expenditure to be
set, maximise stock in demand for more supply and avoid overbuying/underbuying of fuel.
Fuel price risk management is a cyclic process of decision making and implementing risk
controls. It’s a mix of both financial risk management and oil price analysis. The assessment
of risk is done through analysis of financial reports, fuel consumption and fuel cost
calculations, among others.
Managing fuel price risk is of utmost importance for a petrol pump, as it helps them predict
fuel costs changes and react to market change for negating any financial loss and stabilising
the cash flow. Analytical tools of a petrol pump management software can help in assessing
fuel price risk through analysis and reporting. A petrol pump can use this assessment to
form strategies and defuse fuel price risk.

Analytical tools of a petrol pump management software can track and report the total fuel
purchased by customers. Such information helps petrol pumps use predictive analysis to
place fuel orders, based on the purchase pattern of customers.
This in turn will allow petrol pumps place adequate orders and minimise excess purchasing.
Since fuel can easily dissipate, having excess quantities could lead to fuel loss for the
pumps, costing them financially.
Sale reports are also useful to keep a track of challan payments, maintain sales register and
purchase register. These are important aspects of petrol pump operations and not doing so
would adversely affect the pump profits.
We Developed a software that could ful fill all the drwbacks of the previous software’s.

Accounting, the most important aspect of any organisation is improved by using analytical
tools. Analytics helps in accounting by providing insights to boost competitive advantage,
enhance financial reporting and manage risk.
For a petrol pump, the competitive advantage comes from predicting market trends based on
financial information. This enables petrol pump owners to anticipate and react more quickly
to market trends that would otherwise be difficult to foresee.
Financial reporting for petrol pumps is enhanced by analytics through the use of “Integrated
Reporting”. Integrated reporting seeks to create “concise communication about how an
organization’s strategy, governance, performance and prospects, in the context of its
external environment, lead to the creation of value in the short, medium and long term,” as
per the International Integrated Reporting Council.
Integrated reporting allows petrol pumps to link diverse financial and non-financial datasets
and provide more comprehensive and rigorous reporting of their performance.
For a petrol pump, cross-linking of various datasets leads to a more diverse analysis of
performance through sale reports, stock reports, fuel delivery report

We visited the Various Petrol Pumps and observed their way of working
i.e. how they maintain their details? How many people are involved in their work?
What are the criteria’s of distributing the works to the respective people? In the
existing system all the works are done manually. There are two users in the
existing system which does their respective tasks accordingly.
This study further explained safety and proper orientation measures should
be administered the
staffs of a filling station in case of an incident so they’ll have proper
knowledge on how to contain the situation.
I have focused on the user security of fuel pump, a lot has been done in the
recent years to improve fuel management but the safety of fuel pump is still a
worry.
Leakage and theft of petroleum product is still a big concern. The purpose of
this system is to advance an authentication to the user to enable the user
control the opening or closing of the tank

6.6 Conclusion
CONCLUSION
The project as a whole describes the scope and viability of the Trading industry
and mainly of the financial, technical and its market potential. When analyzing the
social economic impact, this project is able to generate an employment of 5 and
above. It will cater the demand of Trading and thus helps theother business
entities to increase the production and service which provide serviceand support to
this industry. Thus more cyclic employment and livelihood generation. So in all
ways, we can conclude the project is technically and socially viable and
commercially sound too.
We conclude that ,System helps to store all the data about the customer order in
computer and there is no need to do paper work.Data is going to be preserved
carefully for longer period hence proper backup is required otherwise there is
chance of losing entries or data.By using analysis we know the importanceof new
petrol pump management software system.
