Description and Operation

One-Touch starting system

The One-Touch starting system is incorporated in the PCM (powertrain control module) on
vehicles with the keyless vehicle system as well as conventional starting systems.
The starting process is initiated by briefly pressing the start button or briefly turning the
ignition key to position 3. The clutch must be disengaged or the brake pedal pressed during
this process.
The starting process is automatically controlled by the engine management system. The
starter motor turns until the engine runs. It is switched off as soon as a certain engine
speed threshold is reached.

Advantages:
• Engine starts immediately.

cardiagn.com
• The starter motor will not be damaged.
• No stalling of the engine.

NOTE: If the engine does not start, the starter motor is switched off after a certain time.
Damage caused by overheating can thus be prevented. The engine can then only be
started again after a cooling down period of up to 30 minutes.
NOTE: If there is a fault in the CPP (clutch pedal position) switch or the BPP (brake pedal
position) switch, if the vehicle has a manual transmission it is possible to start the vehicle
by pressing the clutch pedal and the brake pedal at the same time. The ignition key or
start button must be held on until the engine runs.
