An event code will alert the operator when an abnormal machine operating condition occurs. Such as high system
voltage or invalid engagement of the parking brake.
When the ECM activates an event code, the operator will be alerted by the Monitor. Some events will be logged by
the ECM. The logged events can be viewed with the Monitor or the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ╟ ET)
service tool.
Event codes are activated in one of four warning levels according to the severity of the condition. The warning levels
and the operator action that are required, are shown in the following table.
Table 1

components
(1)
The warning indications which are active are marked with an "X".
(2)
If no operator action is taken.
(3)
At a 10 Hz rate.
(4)
The alarm is on continuously.
(5)
Pulsating alarm.
When an event code is activated by the ECM, the following information should be recorded.

◦ Determine the operating conditions of the engine when the event occurs. Conditions such as engine rpm
and load may be important.
◦ Determine if there are any systems that were installed by the dealer or by the customer that could cause
the event.
2. Verify that the event is not due to normal machine operation. Verify that the event is not due to error of the
operator.
The following table lists the event codes that apply to the machine control system. The cause of the active EID is
listed. Use the Cat ET service tool in order to determine the event codes that are active or logged.
