App Lesson Template

This lesson teaches kindergarten students about letters, spaces, and reading sentences from left to right through four app steps. In step one, students use an alphabet matching app to learn letters. In step two, a word domino app demonstrates spaces between words. Step three uses a sight words app to identify word order in sentences. For the final assessment, students create their own letter or sentence drawing using a whiteboard app and share it with the teacher. The lesson addresses relevant South Carolina teaching standards for letters, spaces, and reading direction.

Directions: Fill in each part of the App Lesson with your own original ideas.

Please look at the

sample provided on the class website. Provide 3 to 4 apps/steps for students to complete along
with a creative title, helpful description, and relevant SC teaching standards.

 There must be one app per step.

 Android apps can be used as long as all included apps are from the same platform.
 Lessons must cohesively link together 3 to 4 apps going from one focus/step of the lesson
to another.
 Lessons may include direct instruction provided the lecture contents are explained.
 Lessons may utilize web browser apps like Chrome or Safari to access website-based
tools. Link to the website in the write-up and the web browser app in the App Store web
link area.
 The final step in lessons must have students create a learning artifact from a creation-
based app (presentation, video, etc.) or screenshot of progress from a skill-based app
that students would submit to the teacher for assessment.

and how sentences move from left to right. This lesson is for kindergarten.

Instructional Objective: Students will use an app to brush up on the lower- and
upper-case letters. They will then move to the carpet to have a lesson on spaces between
words and go over how we read sentences from the left to the right. They will then get to
try the final app on their on after we go over it on the board together.
Step 1: Aa Match Preschool Alphabet Students will get on their tablets and open
the app. They will take 15-20 minutes to go over the different letters in the alphabet and
be able to correctly identify the matching pairs of lower- and upper-case letters. After, I
will pull it up on the big board and we will do a round together.
