Toyota Motor Corporation's organizational structure is based on the varied business


operations of the company around the world. The effectiveness of Toyota in maintaining
a strong global presence shows its ability to use its organizational structure to maximize

efficieney and capacity utilizati6n. This organizational structure is a contributor to

Toyota's success in the global market.

However previously, Toyota had a dMsional organiza.tional structure. This structure

underwent significant changes in 2013.. This was a response to the safety issues and

corresponding product recalls that started in 2009. In the old.organizational structure,

Toyota had a strong centralized global hierarchy that was more like a spoke-and-wheg{i'

structure. The company's headquarters in Japan made all the major decisions. Individual

business units did not communicate with each other, and all communications had to go

through the headquarters. However, this organizational structure was widely criticized

for slow response times to address safety issues.


The organizational structure was changed in 2013. Toyota's new organizational
structure has eight regional divisions Oapan, North America, Europe, East Asia and

Oceania, China, Asia and Middle East, Africa, and Latin America and Caribbean). Each

regional head reports to the companys headquarters. Through these regional divisions,
the organizational structure enables Toyota to improve products and services according
to regional market conditions. Toyota's new organizational structure now has the
following main characteristics: Global hierarchy, Geographic divisions, Product-based

divisions

resolutions and the book stores. Create a selection process for a sale-s person. in
Resolutions. (5 Marks)

Skyline is a huge global firm known for their efflciencies in cost brought about by 10

uniform centralized processes. They have recently acquired an Indian start up firm
called Mindset. Since its inception, Mindset has done extremely well in terms of

revenues because of their decentralized approach to decision making. AI the moment,


since the organization is small, even middle level managers are empowered to take big

decisions. However as Mindset grows, the current system of decentralization is unlikely


to work. That is why once the take over is complete, Skyline is expected to streaml.ine

processes in Mindset and as a result a lot of the current empowerment in Mindset may
be removed and new processes are likely to be established. As a result, there is a lot of
uncehainty amongst Mindset employees and they are understandably wary of the
takeover.

a. In order to allow for a smooth transition of 'Mindset into Skyline, explain the change

management steps the top management needs to undertake (5 Marks}


b. The management team is also looking at making a control system, as per you explain

the characteristics they require for an effective control system. (5 Marks)

narcissism over time and recognized that we are all somewhat narcissistic. Throughout

history, narcissists have always emerged to inspire people and to shape the future.
When military, religious, and political arenas dominated society, it was figures such as

the social agenda. But from time to time, when business became the engine of social +='r
change, it, too, generated its share of narcissistic leaders. However, there is a dark side
