PREFACE
This curriculum constitutes the training material for maintenance of competency of flight crew
members. It includes one part that is common to all flight sectors and another part that is specific to
each one. The second part may be presented in different scenarios depending on aircraft types and
aircraft variants within one type.
Section I includes :
- Implementation Schedule.
- Reminder of company standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Section II includes :
- Sessions scenarios. Each session is prepared by the concerned fleet sector. A feedback
record should be filled after each session by flight crews. The purpose of post-course
evaluation is to determine the extent to which the training program, documentation and
organization’s operational performance fulfilled the purpose for which it was designed and if
corrective actions are required.
For continuous improvement of the training program, a review of all remarks and suggestions
is done regularly to decide about corrective actions, immediately or after meeting of the
standardization committee.
- List of type rating examiners (TRE).
- Operational safety information, that TRI/TRE should discuss with flight crews to make sure that
all aspects in relation with this information are well understood and can be implemented in
pilots daily operations to avoid incidents and accidents.
- The company use proactive, reactive and predictive processes of safety data collection to
monitor safety performance during operations and make it available to the flight crews through
operational safety information. These activities and tools are: safety reporting programs (ASR,
CRCDB, SES), safety inspections, safety audits, safety surveys, Flight data analysis etc. This
information is made available to the flight crews through OSI, FDA, REX, flight safety reports,
summary of captain reports.
Instructions about the simulator use and safety features may be consulted on the spot.
CREW EGRESS
REGULATORY FRAMEWORK
According to regulatory requirements relative to licenses and ratings for pilots “Arrêté du ministre du transport et
de la marine marchande 1397-02”, every flight crew member shall undergo recurrent training and recurrent
checking in the configuration (CAPT-FO) and exceptionally (CAPT-CAPT or FO-FO).
Recurrent training
Recurrent training includes :
Ground refresher course
Aircraft/simulator training
Safety and rescue training
Training in crew resource management (CRM)
Dangerous goods training
Security training
The acquired knowledge in this refresher course shall be checked by a questionnaire or another
appropriate mean.
b. Aircraft/simulator training :
The program shall be established in order to deal with all systems major deficiencies and all related
procedures during the last three years.
The flight simulator training may be combined with the proficiency check.
Aircraft/simulator training includes training on low visibility operations (LVTO and CAT II / CAT III training).
Recurrent checking
a. Proficiency check :
Piloting technique and the ability to execute emergency procedures is checked in such a way as to
demonstrate the pilot’s competence on each type or variant of a type of airplane.
The proficiency check is done on a simulator device, and has a 6 calendar months’ validity period, beginning

from the end of the month of its accomplishment. If the check is done during the last two calendar months of the
last validity period, the new validity period begins from the date of accomplishment and ends 6 months after the
expiration of the last proficiency check validity.
Captains performing their duties from either control seat shall have seat specific training,
that includes:
c. Line check :
The line check has a 12 months’ validity period and shall cover:
> The flight crew ability to perform a satisfactory complete flight in the aircraft;
> The flight crew ability to manage the human factors aspects;
> Evaluation of all tasks performed by flight crew as PF and PM.
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE
Implementation of competency trainings and checks is done according to the following table:
The airplane system to be studied each year is defined by the current cycle.
The refresher should include the study of the concerned airplane systems and related normal and
supplementary procedures (FCOM) and non-normal procedures (QRH).
During the refresher dedicated day, the flight crew use personal documentation (FCOM, QRH, DDM)
and teaching machine (CBT) in the classroom.
The yearly recurrent program is limited to the most important chapters that are treated during the recurrent
training and proficiency check.
THE EXERCISES AND PROCEDURES ARE LISTED IN EVERY SESSION INCLUDING THE STUDY ITMES.

Operational elements
A (ABOVE STANDARD): outstanding performance with a high level ability to achieve the exercises. All
procedures are well executed.
S (STANDARD): good demonstrated level of performance, with only minor errors on non-critical exercises.
No assistance to the trainee was needed.
B (BELOW STANDARD): critical errors are noticed and/or incorrect execution of some procedures.
The trainee performance is unacceptable.
The reference used for grading is “guide de notation” (Grading guide), Ed 0, Revision 1 (15/07/17);
S (+) (STANDARD plus): good demonstrated ability to execute correctly all maneuvers, only few errors not
affecting safety are noticed.
S (-) (STANDARD minus): a slightly lower level than the required standard at the beginning, but the
maneuver was repeated and correctly executed with no further difficulties.
CRM assessment
The simulator device is used to create the conditions of a standard flight with an incident level representative of
workload during daily operations. Incidents are not only technical: ex, ambiguous communication with ATC, cabin
crew intervention during critical phases of flight…
A (Acceptable): no special remarks concerning the flight crew behaviour during execution of the flight
and no need for CRM briefing.
B (Briefing Required): there are some remarks concerning the flight crew behaviour during the
execution of the flight. Instructor briefing is needed.
The reference used in the CRM evaluation is listed in the document: “ Guide Facteurs Humains pour
l'instructeur” (Human factors guide for the instructor).
If the flight crew fails to demonstrate the required standard level during the proficiency check, the TRE
will inform the fleet manager and if unable, the duty manager for corrective actions.
First period
1st semester: from 01 January to 30 June
Note 1: The briefing done before the simulator session, will include a discussion about the content of
the session and also a discussion about incidents and accidents events. This briefing will be executed
by the TRE at least 01H30 before the simulator session.
Note 2: During LOFT and proficiency check, flight crews are not given information that reveals the
exact sequence and the circumstance under which such maneuvers or malfunctions will be
presented. The TRE has the possibility to change the exercises sequence.
Second period
2nd semester: from 01 July to 31 December
> SR: Safety and Rescue. (Half day, increased to 1 day, 1year /3 years)
> DG: Dangerous goods (every 02 years).
> SC : Security (every 02 years)
* Simulator session:
4 hours of simulator training and proficiency check, including all the regulatory required exercises (in
TYPE RATING) for competency check. The session shall also include low visibilty training (CATII/III
TRAINING) and management of crew human factors (CRM).
IMPORTANT: During the simulator session, flight crews shall be in possession of the following up
to date documentation:
> Valid license;
> Maintenance of competency certificate (yellow card);
> QRH (available in the simulator);
> IPad with the following up to date documents:
o FCOM, QRH, FCTM,
o OM PART A, MOC (Cabin manual), Security manual.
o OSI FLT OPS, FLIGHT CREW REX & FDA FEEDBACK REPORT
NB: During the simulator session if the Jeppesen paper charts are not available it’s tolerated to use the
Jeppesen application in the Ipad.
If the documentation (QRH, FCOM, DDM…) is not available in the simulator, the Ipad use for this purpose is
tolerated.
