Question1- what is ENDC?

Answer- It means E-UTRAN New Radio – Dual Connectivity . Means this is a non stand alone(NSA)
Feature that makes it possible for mobile device to access both 5G & 4G LTE network at the same
time .

Question-2- how do you know your LTE 4G Network supports EN-DC(E-UTRAN New Radio Dual
Connectivity )? And how you will get this information

Answer – UE gives first indication to the IE (Information Element) through SIB-2 message about EN-
DC in SIB-2 you see a message (upperlayerindication-r15 true)

Question-3- what is the meaning of upperlayerindication?

Answer- its means the NR cell is collocated to the LTE cell .This information element would indicate
some other things in future release (other than existence of collocated ) But in EN-DC environment
this IE indicates the existence of collocated NR Cell
