According to World Organization of the Scout Movement; adapted by Scouter Liam Morland,
2000, “Scouting is fun with a purpose, directed towards helping boys and girls become happy, healthy,
useful citizens.” With this insight alone, scouting is one of the school’s calendar of activities. As part of
the approved activities, National High School conducted 2 days BSP/GSP School Encampment on
October 27-28, 2023 which started at 3:00 O’clock in the afternoon on the first day and ended at 3:00
O’clock in afternoon on the second day. The objectives of the event were the following: to develop
young scouts the skills, values, and confidence they need to make ethical choices and become
responsible members of communities and to provide activities for the scouts to learn valuable life skills,
develop a sense of self-reliance, and build strong relationships with others.
The School Encampment started at 3:00 pm for the arrival and registration of the scouts followed
by the preparation for supper in which the scouts were advised to cook their own food. At 4:00 pm, the
opening program took place with the following program:

After the opening program, the torch parade was done in barangay and followed by a campfire
which showcased the talents of the scouts and highlights the evening activity. As early as 4:00 am, the
GSP Scouts Own was made and enjoyed their physical fitness activity at 5:00 am. Preparation of
breakfast came next while the Scouters prepared themselves for the flag ceremony. The scouting
activities were performed at 9:00 am to 12:00 noon Activities includes Knot Tying & Pioneering, Troop
Formation, Games (Crab Walk, Plank Transfer, & Hop the Loop) and Basic Sewing Technique. The
scouts took a break for a while as they enjoyed their lunch. Then, they headed back to continue the
challenge valley activity. The event ended with a closing program. xxxxxxxx, GSP and BSP Senior
Scouts, respectively, gave their impressions for the entire duration of the scouting activities. The
Benediction of Farewell was given by xxxxxxx, WBH-School BSP Coordinator afterwards.
We can see the smile on every scout’s face as they leave the school ground. It was a meaningful
experience for everyone who participated in the activity. Truly, it embodied the theme, “Youth
Engagement, Sustaining Relevance and Strengthening Resilience” through camping.
