With the global climate problem increasingly prominent and non-renewable energy sources being largely
consumed, the exploration and utilization of renewable energy sources such as wind energy and solar energy
have been paid to a high attention. As the fastest growing renewable energy sources in the recent years,
wind generation is the most prevalent in coastal regions spanning temperate and b oreal climates. Countries
such as China, USA , Denmark, and Canada possess significant wind power potent ial due to t heir high average
wind velocities. Hence, the research and development about wind power have much practical value nowadays.
Compared with the constant speed-constant frequency power system, the greatest advantage of variable speed-
constant frequen cy wind power system widely used is the ability to get access to the maximum energy conversion.
Our project proposes a Blade pitch control as a feature of nearly all large modern horizontal-axis wind turbines.
It is used to adjust the rotation speed and the generated power. While operating, a wind turbine's control
system adjusts the blade pitch to keep the rotor sp eed within operating limits as the wind speed changes. The
aim is to orient the blades in that direction where we get maximum wind velocity . This is done to provide
maximum thrust to the wind blades. The most popuJar choice for most variable pitch wind turbines is a three
bladed rotor. The dynamics of a variable pitch wind turbine blade can be expressed either in a frame that is
fixed in the blade or in a frame t hat is fixed to t he rotor disc. System will have to measure t he wind velocity
and wind pressure. Accelerometer will measure the direction of the wind. The processor will check for the
consistency of t he wind direction change if any on a time delay. The wind turbine blades are to be tilted
accordingly. The performance of the proposed model is simulated in MATLAB and also built a miniat ure
mcxiel of the system.
