ASSIGNMENT 1
Learning Outcome LO3 Demonstrate the ability to complete tasks and assignment as a leader
(LO):
or a member in group effectively
Program Outcome: PO6 Ability to demonstrate an awareness of and consideration for societal,
health, safety, legal and cultural issues and their consequent
responsibilities relevant to engineering technology practice.
Synopsis: In this assignment, students are required to use simulation software related to
Arduino that are available and suitable for conducting the assignment. The
objective of this assignment is to make sure all students aware of latest electric
and electronic technology in vehicle especially related to safety, security, as well
as other complementary technologies. They also can extend their knowledge and
skills in mechatronics, data processing and Internet of Thing (IoT). Students
require to choose a system and design a circuit using simulation software. They
need to do the assignment in a group, prepare a report, and presentation video.

Assignment 1:
In this assignment, students are required to use the educational version Autodesk Tinkercad Software
which are available at their website. Student needs to register using the official institutional email
(UTeM email) in order to get access to the educational Autodesk products. This software will be used
for the construction of Arduino circuit, programming and simulation (data processing / IoT). The
objective of this assignment is to make sure all students aware of latest electric and electronic
technology in vehicle especially related to safety, security, as well as other complementary
technologies. They also can extend their knowledge and skills in mechatronics, data processing and
Internet of Thing (IoT). Students are required to choose one of the systems below and each title is
limited to one group only. If you find the required sensor is not available in the Tinkercad software, you
may replace it with other available sensor. The report must be prepared based on the template
provided which include the problem definition (introduction, problem definition), team member roles and
responsibility, methodology (process flowchart, schematic diagram), result (coding and circuit diagram),
discussion and conclusion. The evaluation will be made on the creativity and complexity of the system
develop by the student as well as organized teamwork based on the report and presentation (video
recording). The presentation must involve all group members and the contents are based on your
report structure. The video recording presentation time must be less than 10 minute.
Intelligent Braking System: Intelligent braking systems uses a sensor to detect any obstacle
that can avoid collision by applying brake automatically before an impact. The system will
disengage the power transmission to the wheels and activates the braking once obstacle
detected.
Obstacle Avoidance Systems: The system uses Infrared IR Sensor to detect and avoid any
obstacles.
Auto Light System: Automatic light control system can be used to automatically switch on/off
the light based on the sensors used i.e. PIR sensor to detect human motion or LDR sensor that
works depending on the availability of light.
Keyless Entry System: The keyless entry systems can either be active or passive system. An
active systems send a signal to the receiver in the car, and the system disarms. While a
passive systems transmit the signal and the system will automatically disarm when signal
receive a response signal from the remote key. There are many ways to unlock the car such as
put the user hand on the door handle or by pressing the button.
Auto Windscreen Wiper System: Automatic Windscreen Wiper System is used to automatically
operate the windscreen wiper during rainy days. It operates based on moisture detection by the
optical sensor.
Blind spot Detection System: The blind spot detection system uses the radar sensors in the
rear of the vehicle. These sensors are normally located at the rear bumper on each side.
