Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

Students will be able to connect a game to the real world.

Students will improve their ability to communicate by providing detailed information for others
to understand.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Students will listen and follow while I read the instructions.

Students will discuss with one another and then as a class.
Students will design their interpretation of one another through a drawling.

CSTP Rationale (Describe the ways your lesson aligns with California Standards for the Teaching
Profession.)

CSTP 1 Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning: I will connect real-life matters
into the leadership game at the end to show how the lesson ties in.

CSTP 2 Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning: I will
employ the classroom norms to keep the climate of the classroom level and a safe space to
share and participate.

CSTP 3 Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning: By using a
game the student will use the curriculum to get a better understanding of the subject matter.

CSTP 4 Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students: By
using this lesson the students will develop how to use communication long-term and short-
term.

CSTP 5 Assessing Students for Learning: At the end of the lesson the students will be
assessed through a reflection with a small group and then aloud with the class.
CSTP 6 Developing as a Professional Educator: After, I will collaborate with my mentor to
see what I can do better or even see what I should work on.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

During this lesson, students are split into groups of 6. Each student is given 6 pieces of a ¼
sheet of paper. There are 6 rounds of rotating, drawings and descriptive writings. Students are
not allowed to talk or discuss what they have written or drawn as they pass or do the lesson.
Students will draw a picture for 3 minutes with details. Then the stack of papers will be passed
clockwise. Now the students have a picture that their neighbor drew and on the next sheet of
paper, they are to write a detailed description of what they see. They have 3 minutes to
describe what they see. Then once the time is up the stack of paper rotates clockwise again.
Now in front, they have their neighbor’s description. They are to interpret the writing into a
new drawing without looking at the original drawing. This will repeat until the stack of papers
returns to the original person. Then as a group, they have about 8-10 minutes to talk with one
another about what they all wrote and drew. Then as a class, we will reflect on how this
lesson relates to a leadership classroom and the real world. We will also discuss what was
hard, easy, and what we can do better or avoid in the future.

Instructional Procedures

• Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

I will use what the teacher has in place, in which is counting down from 5 to 1.

• Instructional Strategies (Describe all instructional methods you will employ during the lesson.)

During the lesson I will mainly use interactive instruction as the students work with
their peers and use problem solving in the lesson. I will also use experimental and
indirect instruction, as the lesson is like a game and then will end in a reflective
discussion.

• Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

I will allow the students to collaborate with their group members before sharing the
answers which will help boost students esteem and confidence when sharing their
answer to the whole class. This will create an environment where students feel safe to
share their ideas.
• Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

To make sure the students are engaging I will walk around the classroom to check
their papers to make sure they are participating.

• Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

At the end of the lesson, I plan to ask the student reflective questions. This would
inform me if the students understood the point of the Leadership communication.

• Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

I will assess the students to see if they achieved their goals by listing to their reflective
answers as well as observing their work and participation of the group game.
