Three main functional structures of The fish and chips-Co are as follows
*Functional structure is the type of business structure that organizes a company into different
departments based on areas of expertise, in the organization stated above they use the functional
structure to allocate employees with the organization as they specialize in franchise, the
functional structure helps group the right people into their respective posts within the
organization.
*Divisional structure, is a system in which the company segments its employees based on a
product or markets as opposed to their job roles. The fish and chips- Co uses its food to segment
its employees as to who deals with what type of food as they sell both food and refreshments so
the division structure plays a huge role in that way in this company
*matrix structure, in this structure individuals report to more than one supervisor or manager,
this structure is mainly used in this organization to maintain order as their company has a Tall
structure so there are many people that need to process information, so reporting to more than
one person can help pass through the information faster.

The structure of the organization will now be tall, meaning more people in management
positions which information has to pass through them, making control a problem because
employees are too many, reporting will become more difficult as the information has to go
through all these people, this structure can be decentralized because it will now have too many
levels of employees, because each and every department will have their own level creating more
chances of having control problems within the organization, this will result in the organization
needing more managers for each and every department in the organization. All this is to avoid all
challenges faced in a Tall structural organization e.g.

It is a structure that has many employees and managers and each level has its own manager for
control purposes e.g, Durban university of technology has a manager for each and every
department making it easy to pass information in time and work effectively.

It consists of a very few employees and information is easily passed on and employees are easily
controlled e.g Durban university of technology Midlands, it has a few departments which also
has managers and a few departments offices making it easy for employees to know who to report
to and even know when reported issues should be handled, even knowing where to go for a
follow up regarding the matter.

efficiency and effectiveness e.g most organizations moved to do things online, saving them time
and money as now things are done faster and cheaper even in the comfort of your own home we
can even use our own educational institutions as an example ever since improvising to online due

Answer
Input - this stage deals with raw materials, machinery, human resources, money /capital,
computer, knowledge and information.
In our organization which is Durban university of technology, our input involves lectures, fees
paid by students for their education, information and systems of the university and the machinery
that makes teaching and learning more conductive and productive to both students and lectures,
even the information passed on to students can be regarded as an input. Conversion- refers to
converting raw materials into product e.g. The conversion part in our Organization would be
using technology to process and research on the information passed on by lectures to students,
this would be regarded as processing the information to gain more knowledge so you can be able
to use it and pass, which would play a higher purpose in getting our final product which is a
diploma.
Output- This is when the product is ready and can be regarded as quality e.g. this final ready
product would be a diploma as all the input were converted in order to get a Qualification at
Durban University of technology

Effectiveness is a concept used to measure efficiency of an organization in meeting objectives
with the help of given resources without putting undue strain on its employees, it is also about
how the organization can produce the product ration of products how efficient its product is and
how much waste is produced, it’s function of leadership includes defining the future, creating
strategy, setting direction becoming organized and implementing them effectively.
Efficiency- developing modern facilities using new information and technologies that can
produce and distribute a company’s product in the timely and cost effective manner. e.g. In our
institution work is done more remotely, meaning that it is done faster to achieve the desired
result which is learning, instead of wasting money on resources like transportation and lectures
work from home saving petrol money meaning they are working faster with less waste on
resources both from their side and the school and saving time in that process.
