Title; “Your ancestors called it communication, and you call it chismis…”

My mother used to warn me that our society is undergoing a significant shift,

particularly with regard to the younger generations. In stark contrast to how they used to be,
their attitudes and communication styles have changed significantly. I frequently ponder this.
Do our interactions with others actually define who we are?

As a young person who was raised in the so-called Generation Z, I can vouch for the
fact that simply communicating with a friend is enjoyable. Every interaction we have is great
to me, especially when we discuss our crushes, upcoming purchases of styles and clothing,
and cravings. But, every so often I start to question, whether my mother is actually telling the
truth or is just repeating what my grandparents used to say to her.

Communication has changed over the years. In contrast to the prehistoric age, modern
communication between humans is completely different. Earlier, communication was only
possible through person to person interpersonal engagement. Prior to the development of
alphabets, signs, symbols, letters, and the telephone. Many other forms of communication are
now possible because to the Internet era.

Communication has undoubtedly been transformed by technology. Individuals are no

longer have to wait years, months, weeks, or even days before learning something or
receiving a communication. The recipient can now get texts, emails, tweets, and personal
messages in only a few seconds.
Paintings used as a means of communication in past times. We can still see an
example of this now when historians have documented the discoveries. Many times, these
artworks have been found on rocks and in caves. They were typically depictions of animals
and hunting equipment from long ago when people used to hunt. then the artworks were
altered. Even today, individuals still utilize paintings to express their sentiments about
various things.
In the past, pigeons were utilized to transport information from one location to
another. After that, the printing press was invented and we entered the age of newspapers. All
of the essential information that individuals required was available in newspapers. It was for
the entire group of individuals, not just one person. Newspapers continue to be a key
communication tool even today because of its success and popularity in transferring
information to the public in a way that was both convenient and well-known.

The radio and telegraph era of information transport began alongside newspapers. At
that point, it will be possible to conclude that technology significantly influenced
communication. For many people, the invention of the telephone changed their way of life.
Those were the days when not every person could afford one, but the ones that could make
full use of it. People found it simpler to phone and communicate with someone who lived far
away.

The invention of television cleared the door for the widespread use of it as a major
form of entertainment for people as well as a means of information communication.
Television started to develop into a medium for unobtrusive mass communication. Then,
through these entertainment programs that people started to engage with, people started
exchanging knowledge.

Because of cell phones, communication has become much simpler. A significant

technical game changer was the mobile phone itself. Improved communication channels
became possible with the advent of touch screen phones and smartphones. With just one
click, people may access the needed data. Everybody's life has been simpler and more rapid
thanks to the use of the internet. No one can imagine their lives in the modern world without
the internet. Without regard to time or distance, the internet made it possible to communicate
with individuals. Email is currently a popular item. More over one billion people utilize email
as of the present.

Everybody has a social media account on at least one platform in the twenty-first
century. Social media is where most people spend a lot of their time. Nowadays, people have
a fascination with it. Anyone can use it to share their images, videos, and other content on
sites. The Information Age concept should be kept in mind when considering current
communication. The shift in the economy from industry to information technology is referred
to as the "Information Age." The power of knowledge has never been greater because
everything is digitized.

Now that communication has gone through a lot of stages before it became so
convenient and efficient today. Thus, our role is to use these communication tools
responsibly and in the right way. It is really true that the communication styles have changed.
The meaning of communication has evolved from the past to the present and will
undoubtedly change in the future, but the fundamental purpose of communication is to
engage with others, make information more accessible to the public, and express one's
emotions. To answer my ponder, Interaction doesn’t define who we are but, It help us to
improve our communication skills, it is also reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and also
can help to boost our self-confident.
