Guiding Questions

What does career success look like to you?

Career success to me is having the job of my dream. Career success to me is getting the job
that aligns my career interests. By getting the job that aligns my career definitely means
doing the job I am passionate with and I will give it my all and will be happy doing it as it is
what I definitely wanted. This was, I will be very productive and by that I will be able to live
a comfortable life and meet my needs and achieve the things I've always wanted to achieve.

What does a good manager look like to you?

A good manager is a manager that has leadership skills that are strong. He
or she should be capable of leading and motivates their team to work in a
way that they will achieve their goals. A good leader should also be able to
communicate effectively,think critically and be flexible and adaptive.

Looking at your top five strengths, what do you need to do in the next
decade to develop these strengths even more to be a high successful
professional and manager?

To develop my strengths as a professional and a manager, I will be open


to many more opportunities that will help me develop my strengths more.
I will also seek opinions from my colleagues, family and friends of how I
am doing and request them to give me suggestions of how they think I
can be able to keep up my good work. I will set more goals so that I can
better myself and continue practicing my strengths so as to achieve my
goals.
What kind of lifestyle do you want to have 20 years from now? For
example, what do you want to be doing in your daily life? What do you
imagine as your home two decades into the future?
I would a happy life, filled with all the things I desire now. A life where I do not
have to be constantly strained because of work pressure and feeling mentally
tormented since I believe I will be having a family business running and my only
duty with my partner is to manage the business after giving my parents their best
of life. I want a happy home, a house united, filled with happiness, a God fearing
family with a supportive partner and kids.

What job postings can you find that would finance the lifestyle you want in
20 years, and what do you need to do to qualify for those positions?
A Chief Executive Officer is the job posting that can finance my lifestyle. Doing well in
my studies is what I need to do for now so that I can qualify for this position. Practicing
the skills that a CEO to become a good CEO will be of help as well. This will be a
company I am employed in but not for long as I want to be owning my company which I
will be managing as the CEO after enough experience.
Developing your Coaching Skills

As reported by Linda A. Hill (2016), effective managers must master the following
three imperatives to be successful (Exhibit 3,p. 9):

1. Master themselves – Effective management begins with self-understanding.


2. Master their network – Effective managers understand that to be
successful, they must depend on people outside their formal control.
3. Manage their team – Effective managers forge a high-performing “we” out
of the individuals who report to them.

What is your plan to gain experience and abilities in these three areas, especially
considering your greatest strengths as named by Gallup?

Mastering myself
I will ensure I gain full knowledge of who I really am and understand myself so
that will be able to understand others.

Mastering my network

My plan is to know the people I am working with and those that are
outside my team as well. This will enable me be open to new opportunities
and learn what I do not know as well as stay pon top of trends in the
industry.

Managing (future) teams

My plan is to be a good manager to my team and be in them in every


situation and be able to figure out what needs to be done in different
situations. This way, productivity will be increased as I will get my team
work better.
Planning for Roadblocks and Recessions

As outlined in Planning Your Career in a Week by Hirsh and Jackson (2012), there
will be times where you will meet roadblocks, and there will be recessions that
change the job market (page 111-115). Describe how you will follow the
following advice.

Submit only well-researched, well-prepared job applications.

I will research about a company or a job posted so that when I apply for
the job,I will know what I am likely to face or meet in my job in case I get
employed and by this, I will know what I am going to face. I will not regret
when a recession strikes or a negative change in the job market if I had
researched well about the job application as I will be well aware of the
challenges likely to come.

Seek out communities where things are or will be better.

I will ask for advice from people and opinions as well. This will enable me
get different insights from different people and this will have a great
impact as different people have different ideas and views of things.Others
are knowledgeable in things that I am not and this will give me insights
and I will know what to do when.

Maintain and expand your networks.

I will expand my networks so that I can get different views from different
people on how I should go about different situations when they arise.
Maintaining my networks will be a platform and source of new ideas that
will help me deal with the recessions and roadblocks. Different roadblocks
and recessions that change the job market come in different ways and
have different approaches and the networks can be helpful in bringing up
some of those approaches hence saving the company.

Develop a plan for graduation.

Studies is something I embrace so much and I plan to ensure that I study


until I am done with my studies. After completion of my studies and after
getting the grade of my dream,graduating will be the next thing and it is
also part of my career plan. Ensuring I graduate will make me qualify for
many jobs and my dream career being on top the list.

Seek out free help.


There are different advisors that are always willing to give free financial and
business advices as well as help. Looking for such will be helpful to me as I will
be able to get a guide on how to face different situations. There are also toll free
contacts posted online for advising people who feel like they need someone to
advice them on different situations and I will ensure I make a good utilisation of
the same. My family and friends can also be a good source of advice as they
have different opinions and knowledge that I may luck. Not only can they offer
advices, but they can also form basis of financial help and they will help me get
what I need with ease.
