1. Chromebooks and history will be randomly checked to ensure that students are following
the expectations outlined in the handbook.
2. If students are caught playing games or doing anything that the teacher has not directed
them to do on the Chromebook, it will be taken away for the remainder of the class
period and students will need to complete their assignment on paper. In the event that
the assignment is research based or can not be done without a Chromebook, students
may be responsible to complete that assignment in a detention or for homework.
3. Students will no longer be allowed to listen to music while working. This will be in effect
until we can be sure that students are using their Chromebooks appropriately.
4. Students who loiter in classrooms or hallways may be given a conduct referral.
5. If students are late to class, they will have to go to the office for a late pass. If a student
has three late passes they will receive a detention.
6. Students who are not completing the assigned work during LA lab or morning work, during
the appropriate time will be given detention (NJHS students are able to complete
morning work during a different time).
7. It is expected that students will treat the LA/Math Lab proctor with the same respect as
they treat their teachers. Detentions will be served to those who don’t.
We are focused on making sure that your students are ready for high school. Behavior and
respect are just as important as academics. We know that your children are capable of being
excellent role models and respectful students. As middle school teachers, this is what we
expect everyday. Students that can not meet these expectations will receive conduct referrals
and/or detention notices.
It is important to note that no student is being punished because the others are misbehaving,
we are simply holding all students accountable for following the rules and expectations that are
already in place. If your child is following the rules regularly then these disciplinary actions will
not apply.
Thank you,
The middle school team
