What is Residential design?

Residential interior design is the art of creating aesthetic and functional living spaces. While
architects design the structure, designers are generally in charge of the interior aesthetic .

History of residential interior design


With the profession of interior design clocking in at just over 100 years old, we’re looking at the
roots of interior design history and the seven legendary decorators who made a name for
themselves as the industry started gaining momentum in the early 1900’s. From the Ancient
Egyptians to the dawn of modern interior design, here’s everything you need to know.

Types of residential interior design


1.Modern: Modern interior design is
characterized by clean lines, minimalism,
and a focus on function. It often
incorporates industrial materials such as
concrete, steel, and glass and uses neutral
colors such as white, black, and grey.
Modern design creates a sense of space and
openness, often using large windows and
open floor plans.

2. Contemporary: Contemporary interior


design is a more fluid and dynamic,
constantly evolving style. It often
incorporates elements of other design
styles, such as modern and traditional, and
is known for its bold colors and patterns.
Contemporary design is all about creating a
sense of balance and harmony, and it often
uses clean lines and geometric shapes.
3. Traditional: Traditional interior design is
characterized by a classic, timeless look inspired by
the past. It often incorporates ornate details and
finishes, such as crown molding and antique
furniture. The traditional design is known for its
warm, rich colors and often uses patterns and
textures to add depth and interest.

4. Rustic: Rustic interior design is inspired


by the natural world, and it incorporates
elements such as wood, stone, and natural
fibers. It often has a cozy, homely feel and is
known for using rough, unfinished surfaces
and materials. The rustic design creates a
sense of warmth and comfort, often using
natural lighting and cozy fabrics.

5. Industrial: Industrial interior design is


characterized by a raw, edgy look inspired by
factories and warehouses. It often incorporates
industrial materials such as concrete, metal, and
brick and is known for its use of exposed pipes and
ductwork. Industrial design is all about creating a
sense of rough, urban sophistication, and it often
uses open, airy spaces and industrial lighting.
Bed and Bath rooms
I personally think that bed and bath room are the most important rooms, whenever we or I think
about home the first place I think is bed room, also that is the room that you spend the most time
you can’t stay for straight 8 plus hours in the living room or in the dining or the kitchen but you
can and need to sleep for at least 8 hours a day this why I think bed room is the most essential
room in the house.

…and when we get to bathrooms, I think we should give more attention in designing our
bathrooms because we tend to do activities that need the at most comfort and privacy.

Bed room
The technical definition of Bed room is “a room furnished with a bed and intended primarily
for sleeping”

Perhaps there has only ever been one real revolution and that is when, from the 17th Century
onwards, dedicated rooms for beds started to emerge. The bedroom evolved as the design of
European houses changed and privacy became both prized and possible.
