News of interest from the Camp Gordon Johnston Museum and the Camp Gordon Johnston Association
On September 24th the Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum joined with the Smithsonian Magazine for the fourth year in a row to participate in National Museum Day. The new displays in the expanded rooms were the featured attraction and we even had two ladies from the Netherlands stop by.

Partnering with St. Joe Country Club in Port St. Joe, Florida, the two day event will begin Friday evening November 18th at the Country Club with a Silent Auction. The golf tournament itself will start Saturday the 19th. Full details are listed on the Web Page. In spite of a down economy, the CGJ WWII Museum experienced the largest number of visitors coming to Carrabelle in our 20102011 season: 3031 officially signed in. Our fiscal year runs from September 1, through September 30 each year. Reasons for the increased number of visitors is most likely due to expanded facilities, and eliminating fears over the oil spill.

Camp Gordon Johnston Association to host A Salute to Veterans Golf Tournament

Museum Visitorship at highest levels ever!

The CGJA has been invited to feature its vehicles in Veterans Day parades in Crawfordville on Saturday Novemebr 5th, Tallahassee on Novemebr 11th and Carrabelle on Novemebr 12th. Also, the vehicles will be displayed at the Port St. Joe Country Club for the Golf Tournament on the 18th and 19th. This will be our third year in a row we have been asked to participate in various Veterans Day festivities. The Camp Gordon Johnston Association is a not for profit 501 c (3) Florida corporation whose purpose is to preserve the history and memories of the Amphibious soldiers of WW II. CGJA to apppear in three Veteran Day Parades this year

CGJ Museum Appeals to other Military Museums to Swap brochures.


The CGJ WWII Museum recently sent requests for Brochure Swaps to a number of Military Museums in our three state area. To date we have received no responses. If our readers visit these museums, please consider yourselves as at large representatives and encourage that museum to contact us. We all need to help preserve our military heritage.
