M-Jet 60 Basic Manual

The document provides a parts list and assembly instructions for an M-Jet 60 water pump used to power surfboards. It lists the necessary parts which include screws, brass inserts, an 8mm stainless steel rod, bearings, O-rings, a motor coupler, and silicone tubing. It recommends using a 5692 size brushless electric motor with a KV value below 400 for use with a 12S battery. The assembly instructions provide 11 steps for assembling the pump parts which include the housing, motor mount, driveshaft, impellers, intake grate, and water cooling system. It concludes by describing how to install the pumps using epoxy, glued to a rear box.

M-Jet 60 Basic Manual

Part list
Important note: The following part list is for a single pump. In order to build a fast surfboard, you
need to use two pumps in pair mounted next to each other.
Parts needed for assembly
 Stainless steel screws with hex socket cap head: 4x M5x80
6x M5x20
2x M5x10
Screws to mount your motor, 12mm length
 12x M5 brass threaded insert
 8mm stainless steel rod, 220mm is used
 6mm aluminium or brass pipe as a watercooling nipple
 2x stainless steel or ceramic bearing; OD=22mm, ID=8mm, width=7mm
 2x rubber O-ring; OD=14mm, ID=8mm, thickness=3mm
 Motor shaft coupler with 8mm hole on one side, other side to match your electric motor. Has
to be strong, flexible couplers meant for 3D printers might break. Maximum OD=35mm,
maximum length=40mm.
 Silicone tube for watercooling
Electronics
 Motor: 5692 size watercooled
brushless electric motor (56mm
diameter, 92mm length) or bigger.
Maximum possible diameter is 90mm.
The motor can be mounted using the
integrated motor mount with
mounting pattern as described in the
picture. KV value should be low,
unloaded RPM (multiplied volts*kv)
should not exceed 20000. So if you
run the setup on 12S (about 45 volts),
you should use around 400kv motor.
 ESC: I suggest using at least 200A
watercooled ESC. If your motor KV is
high, even more powerful ESC is necessary.
Tools needed for assembly
 Soldering iron
 Allen keys
 Sandpaper
 Tools to cut and file the driveshaft
 Epoxy glue
Recommended print settings
 0.4mm nozzle
 0.2mm layer height
 0.45mm extrusion width
 6 perimeters
 7 top and bottom layers
 20% infill
 Only use supports for impellers
 The pump was tested printed in PLA. For more strength, use polycarbonate. If your motor is
heating up a lot, do not use PLA for the motor mount to prevent melting.
 Other materials might also work, but ABS or PETG might be too flexible for the impellers.
 All STL files are by default oriented in the way they should be printed

Assembly
1. Post processing. If your printed parts have a fat first layer, cut it off. Sanding improves
performance of the impellers, but is not important on other parts.
2. Use soldering iron to push 12 threaded inserts into the Housing (all of them go into this part).
6 of them go into the face laying on the print bed. 4 hold the motor mount. 1 in the grease
port, 1 holds the bearing cap.
3. Cut the driveshaft and file flat spots on it as shown in the drawing:

If your driveshaft does not fit your bearings, use a drill to

spin the shaft and sand it until the bearings fit properly.
4. Insert the O-ring into the housing (picture shows M-Jet 30)
5. Insert one bearing into the Housing and secure it with
Bearing cap using M5x10
6. Mount your motor to the motor mount using all screws
possible
7. Mount your motor coupler and fix the motor mount to the
Housing using 4 M5x20
8. Insert the driveshaft
9. Insert bearing into Second stage, push a bit of grease
through it
10. Slide First impeller onto the driveshaft, close it
with First stage, add Second impeller (has to line
up with the slot in First impeller). Slide an O-ring
onto the shaft to prevent the Second impeller
from rubbing against the second stage (picture
shows M-Jet 30). Secure everything with Second
stage using 4 M5x80.
11. Push grease through the grease port in Housing,
close the port with M5x10.
12. Insert the Intake grate and secure it using 2
M5x20
13. Cut the 6mm aluminium or brass pipe to 30mm
length two times. Use epoxy to glue it into the
watercooling slots, be careful to not block the water channel.
Installation
The pumps need to be installed using epoxy, glued to a box from the rear side as shown in the photos:
