Form 6 Recloser Control

Firmware Release Notes

Control FW version 5.5 Rev01

Release Date: Feb 18, 2022

Feature Enhancements General Modifications and Improvements:

• kW and kVAR polarity fluctuation between positive and negative values

reported via SCADA: Corrected the execution level in the metering module.

Control FW version 5.5

Release Date: Nov 12, 2020

Feature Enhancements General Modifications and Improvements:

• Third-Party Library Updates: Upgraded the Treck stack to update the IP stack
which addresses identified vulnerabilities.

Control FW version 5.4

Release Date: April 12, 2020

Feature Enhancements General Modifications and Improvements:

• Clock Issue-Y2020: Firmware has been modified to function with the existing
RTC architecture to properly handle the 2019 to 2020 transition.
o Firmware will now limit setting the control clock and only allows values
between 2000 and 2035 year to avoid any additional potential failures.

• 2179 Time Sync Update: Firmware has been modified to correctly allow time
sync using 2179 SCADA protocol.

Control FW version 5.3

Release Date: July 10, 2019

Feature Enhancements General Modifications and Improvements:

• Apparatus Disconnect Mode: Apparatus Disconnect Mode (or Apparatus

Interrupt Disable) mode allows the user to temporarily disable protection on the
control for a control cable to be removed, or additional control maintenance to be
performed.

• Improve Flash Erase/Program: Improved the flash programming to verify

completion and improve quality of device function, limiting necessary control
reboots.

• Non-Volatile Memory Back-up: Implemented a non-volatile memory back-up

which stores a copy of settings and NV variables so that, if at any time, the current
memory is corrupted, control will be reverted to this last known good copyof the image
preventing data loss and additional recovery reboots.

• Virtual Front Panel implementation: The Virtual Front Panel, added to Form
6’s ProView software will allow the user to view and use a representation of the
Form 6’s front panel when connected with ProView.

• Expanded Dual Directionality: Added separate Hot Line Tag and Cold Load
Pickup elements for reverse directional faults.

• DNP protocol modifications: Added Deadband setting in “DNP advanced

settings” dialog. Additionally, added DNP MMI settings so that users may set
their DNP settings via Front Panel HMI. Added an IIN configurable feature for IIN
bit 1.4 and 1.7.

• User Configurable Profile Independent/Dependent for Non-TS Schemes:

Created a drop in Workbench module, stored in the ProView build that allows the
user to enable profile dependent functionality for Ground Trip Block and Non-
reclosing.

• MMI Setup & Password: Added functionality to the Form 6’s front panel that
allows the user to set up independent passwords for protection settings and
communication settings.

• Settings File Read/Write: Implemented the ability for a user to create separate
settings files for Hardware Workbench, the Communications Workbench, and the
Protection/Control settings.

• Enable/Disable restoration: Added functionality to allow a user to

enable/disable Auto Restoration in Frequency Settings dynamically.

• F6 DST date/time check for DNP3 GMT Offset: Added support for DST
Date/time for US and Europe time zones in the DNP3 protocol.

• Access Communication settings from the front panel: Created access to

DNP3 Communication settings via Front Panel for DNP3 Serial protocol.

• Separate Neutral CT: Implemented the ability for a user to use a separate CT
ratio for any external CT’s added to the recloser installation for neutral current
measurement.

• End User License (EULA): Implemented End User License agreement for
ProView installation wizard along with providing the ability for the user to access
hard copy of EULA under the install.
• Upgrade Wizard: Added all the new features to be supported by Upgrade
Wizard.

• DNP3 Enhancement: Added a functionality which allows users to modify DNP3

related configuration using the front panel. This also applies for existing schemes
which can be upgraded using the Upgrade Wizard released with this version of
ProView.

Issues Resolved:
• Fixed false RAM/ROM Failure Alarms and SOE’s.

• Fixed an occurrence where if HLT was active and a fault greater than ground
fault pickup occurred, SOE would sometimes not indicate an overcurrent trip.

• Fixed an issue where LS-Tie may mis-operate for a both sources lost scenario.

• Fixed an issue where the Inactivity Timeout would take ~20 seconds if configured
as 240 seconds.

• Added phase angles back into all Phasor views. Minimum rectangles, preference
polar representation.

• Upgrade Wizard Option #5 now gracefully closes Upgrade Wizard on completion

of 5.1 Scheme file creation.

• Fixed an issue where the CONTROL LOCKOUT LED would turn ON when
control is in closed condition and current applied exceeds CLPU HCL minimum
current.

• Added the USEF Trip Counter in the Default Counter Mapping.

• Updated the "Trip", "Close" status blocks in application diagram to be frozen.

• Fixed an issue for TS Sectionalizer where the Ground Fault LED would not auto
reset.

• Modified the Sync Check settings to use the L-L voltages when the control is
configured for Delta-connected PTs.

• Fixed an issue where the KWH meters would stop accumulating. Fixed an
issue where the Operation Sequence would not take correctly forGround
in Dual Directional scheme.

• Increased frequency time delay settings range from 100 to 3600 seconds.

• Changed “OVERCURRENT A/B/C” Trip event to “OVERCURRENT TRIP A/B/C”.

• Added event for “ABOVE MIN TRIP A/B/C” that will write to the SOE whenever
current exceeds the min trip.
• Added an event for “RECLOSE ATTEMPT A/B/C” that will write to the SOE
whenever the unit recloses.

• Modified the Modbus protocol to allow for restarts of the protocol.

• Updated the socket exhaustion implementation.

• Upgrade Wizard: Fixed an issue where the Operation Sequence would not take
correctly for Ground in Dual Directional scheme.

• Upgrade Wizard: Fixed an issue in TS sectionalizer mode where the Ground

Fault LED would not auto reset.

• Increased the range for the impedance setting in the fault locator.

• Enhanced Upgrade Wizard for SOE conversion.

• Updated setting range of High current trip time delay,

• Added the ability to toggle GTB status for both Forward and Reverse directional
elements by same Front Panel and SCADA command.

• Addressed an issue with Form 6 Custom TCCs.

• Added a warning message for Alt4 and Alt5 profile while importing TCC Editor's
settings from ProView.

• Implemented additional logic in Loop Scheme Workbench that restricts the

disabling of the LS feature when control is rebooted (hard reboot) due to
RAM/ROM Failure or SRM event triggered.

• Fixed an issue where the TS DNP Scheme would issue a false battery voltage
alarm.
• Fixed reported metering issues for delta-connected load side PTs.

• Fixed an issue where the control would report erroneous power supply
malfunction alarms.

• Added the phrase "to the control" under ProView's Manage > Device Download
(Structure, Settings, Structure & Settings) menu.

• Fixed an issue where the SRM counter would be incremented, when performing
a profile change/setting change from Front Panel.

• Fixed an issue where the Upgrade Wizard would crash when trying to upgrade a
scheme which has “SEF-LED” signal embedded inside another block within a
parent block called “Target LED Programming”.
• Fixed an issue where the Upgrade Wizard would fail if the WB :(Trip and
Lockout) signal was deleted by users from Hardware Workbench.

• Fixed an issue where the detection of Inrush condition would sometimes not
function for Sectionalizer or Switch mode.

• Fixed an issue where the DNP3 Workbench allows configuration of Counter

default variations 3 and 4, but the Form 6 did not support these variations.
