The Ultimate Guide to Your Combination Skin-Care

Routine

Looking for the perfect skin-care routine for your combination skin? You’re in the
right place! This document will provide you with everything you need to build
your own personalized skin-care routine that fits your needs. After reading these
step-by-step instructions, you should expect to have created your perfect skin-care
routine.

What is Combination Skin?

Wondering if you have combination skin?
Combination skin consists of a mix of dry skin and
oily skin (thus the name). The T-zone (Middle
forehead and the nose) is usually oily while the
rest of the face is either dry or normal. To
identify your skin type, gently pat a blotting
paper on the different areas of your face. Hold
the sheet up to the light to determine how much
oil is visible. If the sheet picked up little to no
oil, you most likely have dry skin. If the blotting
sheet reveals oil from the forehead and nose
areas, your skin is combination. If this
description generally fits you, you have
combination skin!

Step-by-Step Routine for Combination Skin

1. Cleanse (Morning & Night)

o Cleansers will remove any dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. The right
cleanser for you will depend on how (mostly) oily/dry your skin is.
o Generally, opt for a gentle cleanser that is fragrance-free.
o Use 1-2 pumps on
wet hands and face
then rub the
cleanser into a
lather and gently
massage into face
for 30 seconds and
then rinse with
cold water.

Recommendations
 For more oily skin: CeraVe
Foaming Facial Cleanser
 For more dry skin: CeraVe Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanse

 For more dry skin: CeraVe Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanse

2. Use Products with Active Ingredients (Morning & Night)

o Using active ingredients in your skin care routine is essential,
especially if you have skin problems you want to fix like
hyperpigmentation, acne, blackheads/whiteheads, uneven texture, etc.
Using active ingredients can help prevent these problems in the first
place as well.
o Follow directions on the packaging of each product.

the right fit for you, visit

ingredients to learn more about active ingredients.
Suggested Active Ingredients:
 Vitamin C:
brightens
skin and
gets rid of
texture and

hyperpigmentation.
 Retinol: increases cell turn-over (exfoliates), decreases fine
lines, gets rid of hyperpigmentation as well as acne.
Note: When starting on retinoids, start with 2-3 times a
week and build up from there as your skin adjusts.
Recommendations
 Vitamin C (Morning): Native Brightening facial Serum
 Retinol (Night): CeraVe Retinol Serum

3.[2.] Moisturize (Morning and Night)
o Moisturizing is a crucial step in your skin-care routine, especially for
combination skin.
o Use a lightweight moisturizer (fragrance-free recommended). Select
products with hyaluronic acid which helps the skin retain moisture.
o Apply a moderate layer onto face and neck.
Recommendations
 CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion
 La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer

4.[3.] Apply Sunscreen (Morning)

o Sunscreen is an overlooked but highly important step in your
skincare routine, it protects your skin from UV rays, reduces signs
of aging, and lowers the risk of cancer. If you do not use sunscreen
to protect your skin, all the previous steps go in vain.
o Apply two fingers worth of sunscreen on your face and neck.

Recommendations

 Native Mineral Sunscreen

 Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun

Note: These instructions are a general guideline and do NOT consider specific
skin problems/conditions.
Always do a skin
patch test before using any
product to identify any
negative reactions.
Consult your dermatologist before incorporating active ingredients in your
skincare.
