1. (a) (i) Why rain drop falling under gravity do not acquire very high velocity? (02 marks)
(ii) A sphere is dropped under gravity through a fluid of viscosity. Taking average acceleration as half of
the initial acceleration show that the time taken to attain terminal velocity is independent of fluid
density. (3 marks)
(b) (i) Water flows steadily along the horizontal pipe at a rate 8 x 103 m3/s. If the area of cross section of

(c) (i) A large bottle is filled with a siphon made of capillary glass tubing. Compare the time taken to

(c) (i) Light of wavelength 624 nm is incident perpendicularly on a soap film (with µ = 1.33) suspended in
air. What are the least two thicknesses of the film for which the reflections from the film undergo
fully constructive interference? (04 marks)
(ii) A parallel wavefronts of monochromatic light is incident on double slit arrangement at an angle a as
shown in fig. below. Find the position of zero order maxima from the centre of the screen.
