Rubric for Grading


I. Presentation and Writing Quality (30 points)
Exceptional (22-30 points): Report is well-organized, free of grammatical errors, and written in a clear,
scientific style.

Satisfactory (15-21 points):): Report is mostly organized, with minor grammatical errors. Writing is
generally clear.

Needs Improvement (0-14 points): Report is disorganized, with numerous grammatical errors and
unclear writing.

II. Title and Introduction (20 points)


Exceptional (18-20 points): Title is clear, concise, and accurately describes the experiment. Introduction
provides a strong background, clearly outlines objectives, and states the importance of the experiment.

Satisfactory (12-17 points): Title is appropriate but could be clearer. Introduction provides some
background and states the objectives.

Needs Improvement (0-11 points): Title is vague or missing. Introduction lacks background information
and/or objectives are not stated.

III. Materials and Methods (20 points)


Exceptional (18-20 points): Comprehensive list of materials. Methods are described in detail, allowing
for easy replication of the experiment.

Satisfactory (12-17 points): Lists most materials and describes methods, but some details may be
missing or unclear.

Needs Improvement (0-11 points): Incomplete list of materials and methods are not adequately
described

IV. Analysis and Interpretation (30 points)


Exceptional (22-30 points): Comprehensive analysis of data. Interpretation is logically sound, with strong
reasoning and clear conclusions. Relates results back to objectives and background material.

Satisfactory (15-21 points): Adequate analysis and interpretation but may lack depth. Conclusions are
mostly clear but may be superficial.

Needs Improvement (0-14 points): Poor analysis and interpretation. Conclusions are unclear or missing.
