Basic Fire Fighting Course

Objectives of this training.


The purpose of this basic fire fighting training is to give participants skills, knowledge and expertise that
will enable them to identify the conditions capable of causing fire, know how to use a fire extinguisher,
respond appropriately to fire emergencies and follow the fire evacuation plan, adequately implement fire
emergency procedures. Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
 Successfully extinguish fires with the use of a fire extinguisher.
 Successfully evacuate an installation on fire.
 Apply the theory of the fire triangle in preventing fires at worksites.
 Carry out a simple fire risk assessment on the premises.
 Understand and use the principles of fire suppression.
 Explain the meaning of flash point and auto ignition.
 Understand the behavior of fire during its propagation.

This basic fire fighting training course is designed for workers in the Oil & Gas, Mining, Petrochemical,
Manufacturing, Chemicals procession, metallurgy and other companies having a risk of fire outbreaks.

Duration:
This basic fire fighting training has a duration of 2 days With a ratio of 30% theory to 70% practical.
These include classroom presentations, exercises, discussions, videos and practical fire fighting
simulations. Participants will extinguish fires with the use of a fire extinguisher, they will evacuates an
installation as per procedure and alert others appropriately. We can organised the training in our
Cameroon office or on site upon client request

Pre-requisite :
There are no pre-requisite this basic fire fighting training, however, it is recommended that participants be
able to speak and write basic English or French

Personal Safety and Social Responsibility


This Personal Safety & Social Responsibility (PSSR) private course forms part of the mandatory
basic safety training for all sea farers. Sea farers which are assigned safety or pollution
prevention duties. Designed to give you a basic induction in safety procedures and accident
prevention. As well as to familiarise you with the working environment on board merchant
vessels.

On meeting the minimum standard of competence in Personal Safety and Social


Responsibilities you will understand different types of emergencies that can happen on board.
Furthermore, the appropriate actions to take. This course will also help you to be able to
recognise emergency signals. As well as understanding the use of safety equipment. You will
recognise the values of drills and training. You will understand the importance of working
safely. It also covers the essential communication issues of understanding orders. As well as
maintaining effective human relations and communication aboard ship.
Course Objectives
Its objectives are to give basic induction training in safety procedures and accident prevention.
As well as familiarising people with the employment conditions and working environment on
board vessels.

Target Audience
New recruits and prospective sea farers. Also people who wish to gain a better knowledge of
ships working before they board a ship.

PERSONAL SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES


AIM This model course aims to meet the mandatory requirements for seafarers for
familiarization, basic safety training and instruction in accordance with Section A-VI/1 of
STCW Code.

OBJECTIVES This syllabus covers the requirements of the 1995 STCW Convention and Code Chapter
VI, Section A-VI/1 on meeting the minimum standards of competence in personal
survival at sea in the event of the ship abandonment.
The trainee will be able to:

 Don a lifejacket
 Don and use immersion suit
 Safely jump from a height into the water
 Right an inverted life raft while wearing a lifejacket
 Swim while wearing a lifejacket
 Keep afloat without a lifejacket
 Board a survival craft from ship and water while wearing a lifejacket
 Take initial action on boarding survival craft to enhance chance of survival
 Stream a drogue or sea anchor
 Operate survival craft equipment
 Operate location devices, including radio equipment
What is the Elementary First Aid Course?
This STCW elementary first aid course module is a combination of theory and practical
training for basic first aid and life saving skills. This course is intended for all seafaring
personnel who need to be able to practice elementary first aid on board ship. It
comprises the knowledge required in STCW 95 Table A-VI/1-3 and provides an
introduction to the principles of first aid. It shows how to respond to the most common
medical emergencies.

Elementary First Aid

Course content

The Elementary First Aid course module is a combination of theory and practical
training for basic first aid and life saving skills. This course is intended for all seafaring
personnel who need to be able to practice elementary first aid on board ship. It
comprises the knowledge required in STCW 95 Table A-VI/1-3 and provides an
introduction to the principles of first aid. It shows how to respond to the most common
medical emergencies.
