Basic Fire Fighting Course
Duration:
This basic fire fighting training has a duration of 2 days With a ratio of 30% theory to 70% practical.
These include classroom presentations, exercises, discussions, videos and practical fire fighting
simulations. Participants will extinguish fires with the use of a fire extinguisher, they will evacuates an
installation as per procedure and alert others appropriately. We can organised the training in our
Cameroon office or on site upon client request
Pre-requisite :
There are no pre-requisite this basic fire fighting training, however, it is recommended that participants be
able to speak and write basic English or French
Course content
General principles of fire safety
Combustion, fire and Oxidation, the fire triangle.
Practicals
Premises evacuation, mustering and fire suppression
Target Audience
New recruits and prospective sea farers. Also people who wish to gain a better knowledge of
ships working before they board a ship.
Course Contents
Complying with emergency procedures
OBJECTIVES This syllabus covers the requirements of the 1995 STCW Convention and Code Chapter
VI, Section A-VI/1 on meeting the minimum standards of competence in personal
survival at sea in the event of the ship abandonment.
The trainee will be able to:
Don a lifejacket
Don and use immersion suit
Safely jump from a height into the water
Right an inverted life raft while wearing a lifejacket
Swim while wearing a lifejacket
Keep afloat without a lifejacket
Board a survival craft from ship and water while wearing a lifejacket
Take initial action on boarding survival craft to enhance chance of survival
Stream a drogue or sea anchor
Operate survival craft equipment
Operate location devices, including radio equipment
What is the Elementary First Aid Course?
This STCW elementary first aid course module is a combination of theory and practical
training for basic first aid and life saving skills. This course is intended for all seafaring
personnel who need to be able to practice elementary first aid on board ship. It
comprises the knowledge required in STCW 95 Table A-VI/1-3 and provides an
introduction to the principles of first aid. It shows how to respond to the most common
medical emergencies.
