PolyWorks|Inspector™ Training Outline

Basic probing and scanning applications for

Portable Metrology
Objective
The objective of this training is to enable new PolyWorks users to perform the
inspection of parts using tools found in PolyWorks|Inspector™. The training covers
basic probing and scanning applications. More specifically, it covers the key concepts
of a typical inspection workflow for portable metrology. Once the training is
successfully completed, newly trained users can apply these concepts to perform
inspections of their own parts.

Outline

• Introduce the PolyWorks interface and the inspection workflow.

• Scan a high-quality polygonal model for inspection using the real-time quality
meshing technology and feature scanning guidance.
• Probe measurement objects.
• Align data to the CAD model using surface information as well as Feature-Based,
Best-Fit Measurement Objects, and Datum Reference Frame alignments.
• Create data color maps and other measurement objects; set controls and
tolerances.
• Review, report, and share inspection results using control views, snapshots, tables,
and formatted reports.
• Inspect multiple pieces, without programming, using Play Inspection’s
autogenerated measurement sequence.
