What is Zoom Video Conferencing?

Zoom is a communications platform that allows users to connect with video, audio, phone,
and chat. Using Zoom requires an internet connection and a supported device. Most new
users will want to start by creating an account and downloading the Zoom Client for
Meetings.

How to use Zoom for beginners

Join a Zoom meeting

1. Open your Zoom Application


2. Click button “Join a Meeting”
3. Enter your Personal Link Name or Meeting ID and Your Name
4. Click “Join” to join your meeting.

Start a Zoom meeting

1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal and click Meetings.


2. Hover your cursor over the entry for your scheduled meeting and click Start.
Note: If you do not have any scheduled meetings, click Schedule a Meeting.
Complete the required information on the next page and click Save. Now hover your
cursor over the meeting entry and click Start.
3. The Zoom application will launch automatically to start the meeting.

How to host an instant meeting through Zoom desktop client

Windows

Home tab
To start an instant meeting from the Zoom desktop client Home tab:

1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.


2. Click the Home tab.
3. (Optional) Click the down arrow for the following instant meeting options:
 Start with video: This begins your instant meeting with your video enabled.
 Use My Personal Meeting ID: Your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) accesses
your personal meeting room which is a virtual room that is permanently
reserved for you.
4. Click New Meeting to start an instant meeting.
By default, no one is invited to the meeting, so be sure to invite others to join.

Android

Home tab
To start an instant meeting from the Zoom mobile app Home tab:

1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.


2. Tap the Home tab.
3. Tap New Meeting to start an instant meeting.
