Project Overview:
The Automatic Power Factor Correction (APFC) System is designed to improve the power factor of
electrical systems, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing power consumption. The project aims to
develop a smart and automated system that monitors the power factor in real-time and adjusts it by
controlling the connection of power factor correction capacitors.

Project Objectives:
1. Power Factor Monitoring:
- Implement a reliable method for monitoring the power factor in electrical systems.

- Utilize sensors and measurement devices to continuously assess the power factor.

2. Automatic Correction:
- Design a control system that receives input from power factor monitoring devices.

- Implement algorithms to calculate the required power factor correction based on real-time
measurements.

3. Capacitor Bank Control:

- Integrate a capacitor bank with the control system.

- Develop a mechanism to automatically switch capacitors in and out of the electrical system to achieve
the desired power factor.

4. User Interface:
- Create a user-friendly interface for system configuration and monitoring.

- Enable users to set power factor targets and view historical data.

5. Communication System:
- Implement a communication system to relay information to and from the APFC system.

- Explore options such as Modbus or IoT protocols for remote monitoring and control.
6. Safety Features:
- Incorporate safety mechanisms to prevent malfunctions or hazardous conditions.

- Implement fail-safe measures and alarms to alert users of any issues.

Methodology:
1. System Design:
- Develop a detailed design of the APFC system, including the hardware and software components.

- Define the specifications for sensors, controllers, and the capacitor bank.

Circuit Diagram:

2. Prototype Construction:
- Assemble a prototype of the APFC system based on the design specifications.

- Test individual components and subsystems for functionality and compatibility.

3. Algorithm Development
- Design and implement algorithms for real-time power factor calculation and correction.

- Validate the accuracy and effectiveness of the algorithms through simulation and testing.
4. User Interface Development:
- Create a user interface for system configuration and monitoring.

- Ensure the interface is intuitive and accessible to users with varying technical backgrounds.
