INSTRUCTION FOR THE PERFORMANCE TASK

USE THE FIRST SHEET FOR YOUR SALARY AND ADD ANOTHER SHEET FOR OVERTIME (IF THERE IS ANY).
FOR AN ADDITIONAL SHEET, GRAPH YOUR ALLOWANCES AND DEDUCTION.

EXAMPLE:

USING MS EXCEL, COMPUTE LIZA’S SALARY IF HER HOURLY RATE IS ₱224. THE COMPANY ALLOWS
FLEXIBLE WORKING SCHEDULES AS LONG AS THE EMPLOYEES PERFORM 8 HOURS OF WORK PER DAY.
HER TIME RECORD FOR THE WEEK SHOWS THE FOLLOWING:

DATE DAY TIME IN TIME OUT

10-AUG MONDAY 7:04 AM 5:30 PM
11-AUG TUESDAY 8:15 AM 5:45 PM
12-AUG WEDNESDAY 8:25 AM 5:35 PM
13-AUG THURSDAY 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
14-AUG FRIDAY 6:50 AM 5:40 PM

SOLUTION:

STEP 1: Create an MS Excel spreadsheet. Name it Liza's Salary for 1 Week and save it.

In column A, type Hourly Rate in cell A1 (adjust the column width accordingly) and enter the value for
hourly rate in cell B1. Format the cell by clicking the icon for Number. Select Currency from Category: for

Save the created workbook or spreadsheet from time to time.

STEP 2: Compute the total hours. In column E, type Total Hours in cell E2 and enter the formula

=(D3-C3)*24-1

in cell E3, and then press Enter.

If the value obtained is 9.43333, select E3 and decrease the decimal places to two by clicking the icon for
decreasing decimal places as needed. If value obtained is 10:24, select E3 and format cell, click Number,
choose Number for category and 2 for decimal places. Then select Php1 234.10 and click OK.

Position the mouse pointer at the lower right corner of cell E3 until it turns into a cross. Drag the fill
handle across the cells you want to fill (up to cell E7).

STEP 3: Compute the regular hours. In column F, type Regular Hours in cell F2 and enter the formula.
=IF(E3>8,8,E3)

in cell F3, and then press Enter.

Select F3 and increase the decimal places to two by clicking twice the icon for increasing decimal places.
