Geometric Sequence and Series Notes

Here are the steps to solve this problem: 1) Write the formula for the number of hits each week: hn = 293(1.026)n 2) To find the total hits in 6 months (24 weeks): Sum the geometric series from n=0 to n=23: S24 = 293(1.026)24/(1 - 1.026) = 4882 3) Set up an equation to find the number of months: 5700 = 293(1.026)n Solve for n: n = log(5700/293)/log(1.026) = ~9 months So the answers are: a) Approximately 4882 hits b)

Geometric Sequence and Series

A sequence in which the ratio between

successive terms is a constant is called
geometric sequence. The constant is
referred to as common ratio, denoted 𝒓.
𝟑𝟐, 𝟏𝟔, 𝟖, 𝟒
To find the common ratio of a geometric
sequence, divide any term following
“𝑛𝑡ℎ term divided by the preceding term”.
𝟏
𝑟 = 𝑎! /𝑎!"# 𝑟 = 16/32 𝒓=
𝟐

sequence is constant, the rate of change in
geometric sequence can either increase or
