The owner or owner’s representative is responsible for determining the acceptability of the product prior to installation. This product is handmade and
of artisan quality; variation in color, shade, tone and size is normal and should be expected. The key to a successful installation is an experienced
craftsman familiar with handmade mosaics. Range and variation are natural and inherent qualities of stone and should be embraced as characteristics
that add beauty to your project. There may be folds, wrinkles and bubbles in jewel glass. These surface characteristics are inherent to the art of glass
manufacturing processes and should be expected. Upon delivery, open and inspect each box of tile, no matter the material.
· Mosaic Tile - verify sheet-to-sheet color consistency by laying each sheet adjacent to one another as according to the numbered stickers and map.
· Unmounted Tile - verify color acceptability prior to installation. Translucent tile should be inspected and compared to one another on a white
background. Prior to or during installation, blend the entire order to promote a visually consistent arrangement.
Installation deems acceptance. Absolutely no returns will be accepted for any reason after material has been installed.

MOVEMENT JOINTS
Movement joints are essential for the success of most tile installations. Install movement provisions according to the Tile Council of North America (TCNA)
Handbook For Ceramic, Glass, and Stone Tile Installation, method EJ171-11. A fl exible sealant, recommended for submerged applications, is required
between the tile and all restraining abutments (i.e., the decking or coping), at all inside corners and directly over any joints in the concrete tank. In-fi eld
movement joints are required every 8’ on center in exterior applications or 20’ on center in interior applications. An architect or design professional should
be consulted when specifying the exact number and location of each movement joint.
There are a wide variety of fl exible sealants available for use in tile installations. Each sealant product will vary in type, application and performance;
consult the sealant manufacturer for specifi c recommendations and limitations.
GROUTING
Grout is available in both sanded and non-sanded varieties. Refer to grout manufacturer’s specifi cations for appropriate use. When installed in pools,
we recommend grouting art glass with a cement-based sanded grout (will not scratch the tile). Blue, green, and red grouts may not be appropriate for
submerged applications; consult the grout manufacturer for specifi c use recommendations and limitations.
WATERPROOFING
There are a wide variety of anti-fracture and waterproofi ng products available for use in tile installations. Each membrane product will vary in type,
application, and performance; consult the product manufacturer for specifi c recommendations and limitations. The following is a brief list of common
waterproofi ng materials:

Remove paper backing prior to installation. When using a wet saw,
adhesive may soften. Allow any cut materials to dry completely prior to
installation.
ADHESIVE REMOVAL
Because almost every New Ravenna mosaic uses face tape, adhesive residue
occurring on the surface of the product is to be expected and
can easily be removed with a non-abrasive residue remover.

The performance of a properly installed thinset tile application is dependent upon the durability and dimensional stability of the substrate to which it is
bonded. The following information details the recommended pool and water feature substrate preparation method for glass and stone.

SUBSTRATE REQUIREMENTS
• Based on the soil report, pool tanks must be engineered and constructed to support a glass tile installation.
• Pool tank construction must be reinforced concrete.
• Defects in the concrete tank must be repaired prior to the commencement of tile work.
• Concrete tank surface must be free of grease, oil, wax or other coatings; pressure wash if necessary.
• Concrete tank must be made watertight through the use of a cementitious waterproofi ng.

• Cement mortar beds must be cured a minimum of 7 days prior to glass tile installation.
NOTES:
• The ideal working temperature for most thinset and grout products is between 50° and 90°F. Exterior installations must be protected during
installation and curing from direct sunlight, excessive heat, wind, rain and freezing temperatures.
• Elastomeric waterproof membranes applied to the cement mortar bed may be benefi cial in freeze-thaw climates.
• All submerged applications must be cured a minimum of 21 days prior to submersion or heavy water use, unless otherwise specifi ed by the thinset
and grout manufacturer.

inherentes de la piedra y deben incluirse como características que agreguen belleza a su proyecto. En muchos casos, habrá pliegues, arrugas y
burbujas en el cristal de joya. Estas características de superfi cie son inherentes a los procesos del arte de fabricación del vidrio y son de esperar. Al
momento de la entrega, abra e inspeccione cada caja de azulejos, sin importar su material.
· Azulejos de Mosaico - verifi que hoja por hoja la consistencia de color poniendo cada hoja adyacente a la que le sigue, de acuerdo a las etiquetas
numeradas y el esquema de colocación.
MATERIALES DE INSTALACIÓN
LECHADA (THINSET)
Debido a las propiedades naturales de la piedra y de la naturaleza translúcida del vidrio, el color de la lechada (thinset, en inglés) seleccionada afectará
la apariencia de la baldosa instalada. Recomendamos el uso de lechadas específi cas de color blanco, algunas mezcladas con un aditivo específi co de
látex (consulte la lista a continuación). Sin embargo, estos productos variarán en su grado de blancura y consistencia de color. Confi rme que el color de
la lechada sea aceptable antes de la instalación. Para proyectos que requieran unidades múltiples de lechada puede que se necesite prepararla en seco
(pre-mezclar) para así evitar variaciones de color de un saco a otro. Todas las aplicaciones sumergidas (piscinas/albercas y elementos/juegos de agua)
deben dejarse curar por un mínimo de 21 días antes de la inmersión o uso pesado del agua, a menos que el fabricante de la lechada y de la boquilla
(grout) especifi que algo diferente.
IMPERMEABILIZACIÓN
Existe una amplia variedad de productos anti-fractura e impermeabilizantes disponibles para uso en instalaciones de baldosas. Cada producto de
membrana variará en cuanto al tipo, aplicación y rendimiento; Consulte al fabricante del producto para obtener recomendaciones y limitaciones

CORTE
El vidrio o la piedra se pueden cortar para ajustarse con las dimensiones del lugar de trabajo usando una sierra húmeda para baldosa de alta calidad,
equipada con una hoja de diamante de borde liso y continuo para cortar azulejos de vidrio. Para facilitar el corte en húmedo, es posible que los
mosaicos revestidos por su lado ‘cara’ con cinta adhesiva deban cortarse de manera individual, ya que el exceso de pulverización por el uso de la sierra
puede hacer que se despeguen de la cinta.
PERFORACIÓN
El vidrio o la piedra se pueden perforar utilizando una broca de diamante de núcleo húmedo, diseñada para perforar materiales densos (es decir, vidrio
o granito) y un chorro de agua (alimentación de agua central). Se debe instalar un soporte sólido para el anclaje de accesorios, como puertas de ducha
y barras de toallas, antes de instalar el sustrato de baldosa. El diámetro de todos los orifi cios perforados debe ser lo sufi cientemente grande como para
permitir que el sujetador pase a través de la baldosa y el sustrato sin hacer contacto.

TANQUE DE CONCRETO
• En base al reporte de suelos, los tanques de piscina/alberca deben ser diseñados estructuralmente así como construidos para poder soportar la
instalación de baldosa de vidrio.
• La construcción de los tanques de piscina debe ser de concreto armado.
• Cualquier defecto en el tanque de concreto debe ser reparado antes de empezar con el trabajo de baldosas.
• La superfi cie del tanque de concreto debe estar libre de grasa, aceite, cera o cualquier otro tipo de revestimiento; lave a presión si es necesario.
• El tanque de concreto se debe impermeabilizar usando un impermeabilizante cementoso.

• Las capas de mortero de cemento deben de ser curadas durante un mínimo de 7 días antes de la instalación de la baldosa/mosaico de vidrio.
NOTAS:
• La temperatura ideal de trabajo para la mayoría de los productos de lechada y boquilla es entre 50° y 90°F [10° y 32°C]. Las instalaciones al
aire libre deben de ser protegidas durante su ejecución y curado de la luz solar directa, el calor excesivo, el viento, la lluvia y las temperaturas de
congelación.
• Membranas de impermeabilización elastómeras aplicadas a la capa de mortero de cemento pueden ser de benefi cio en climas donde ocurren ciclo
de congelación-deshielo.
• Todas las aplicaciones sumergidas deben de ser curadas un mínimo de 21 días antes de ser sumergidas o expuestas a uso pesado de agua, a
menos de especifi carse diferentemente por el fabricante de lechada y boquilla.
