BSc Psychology

Module: PL1025 Learning, Personality and Intelligence

Coursework: October 2023 to March 2024 study session

Submission Deadline: Tuesday 2nd January 2024 13.00 UK TIME

• Please Note: You are permitted to upload your Coursework in the final submission
area as many times as you like before the deadline. You will receive a
similarity/originality score which represents what the Turnitin system identifies as
work similar to another source. The originality score can take over 24 hours to
generate, especially at busy times e.g. submission deadline.

• If you upload the wrong version of your Coursework, you are able to upload the
correct version of your Coursework via the same submission area. You simply need to
click on the 'submit paper' button again and submit your new version before the
deadline.

In doing so, this will delete the previous version which you submitted and your new
updated version will replace it. Therefore your Turnitin similarity score should not be
affected. If there is a change in your Turnitin similarity score, it will be due to any
changes you may have made to your Coursework.

• Please note, when the due date is reached, the version you have submitted last, will
be considered as your final submission and it will be the version that is marked.

• Once the due date has passed, it will not be possible for you to upload a different
version of your assessment. Therefore, you must ensure you have submitted the
correct version of your assessment which you wish to be marked, by the due date.

• Any reference to academic content from the textbook, research studies, and
additional material will need to be cited in APA format.

Your overall total word count should not exceed 1500 words (Weighted
at 30% of final mark for the module)

To what extent could measures of IQ and/or personality be used to predict
well-being and/or academic achievement?

For your coursework for this module, you will write an academic essay that is
1500 words long that answers the question above. You should write this
aimed at a first-year psychology student at university, so whilst they may
know general terms in psychology, topic specific terms will need to be
defined. Any reference to academic content from the textbook, research
studies, and additional material will need to be cited in APA format.

To help in writing this essay, you may wish to review the essay plans created
in Topics 1 and 2. Please note, you may choose to write about either IQ tests
OR personality tests, and you may choose to talk about well-being OR
academic achievement.

Your essay should follow the structure prescribed in the essay plans that have
been referred to in the module. Your essay will need an introduction and
conclusion (as separate paragraphs), with each of the paragraphs in the main
body of the essay as distinct arguments addressing the essay question. You
may wish to refer back to 1.12 Reading: How to plan an essay.

Assessment Criteria:
Please refer to Appendix C of the Programme Regulations for detailed
Assessment Criteria.

Plagiarism:

This is cheating. Do not be tempted and certainly do not succumb to

temptation. Plagiarised copies are invariably rooted out and severe penalties
apply. All assignment submissions are electronically tested for plagiarism.
