Three Blocks and Two Blocks On Inclined Plane Problems

This document contains 10 practice physics questions related to friction forces between blocks on inclined planes. Sir Bharat M. Tanwani provides sample problems involving coefficients of static and kinetic friction to calculate accelerations and forces. Students are asked to match expressions, determine relative motion between blocks, and calculate normal contact forces and accelerations in various multi-block systems where the masses, angles of inclination, and friction coefficients are given.

(D)  = 20° (s) μ(m1 + m2)g cos 
3. Consider three blocks placed one over the other as shown in Fig. Let us now pull the blocks with the
forces of magnitudes 18 N, 100 N, and 15 N. Take m1 = m2 = m3 = 10 kg. If the coefficients of static
and kinetic friction between all contacting surfaces are μs = 0.3 and μk = 0.2, respectively, find the

(a) Acceleration of the blocks (b) Friction at each surface.

4. Each of the three blocks in Fig. has a mass of 10 kg. The coefficients of static and kinetic frictions at
each surface of contact between the blocks are μs = 0.3 and μk = 0.2, respectively. The ground is smooth.
Determine the acceleration of each block when the horizontal forces as shown are applied.
