OMAANDI COMBINED SCHOOL

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PLAN (SDP)

15/10/2023

“Early child education lays a strong foundation in the cognitive development of the child”
1 | Page
FOREWORDS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:

Appalled by the continuous poor performance of the learners in schools, the ETSIP program embarked upon a program to build up the
quality of the education provided in our schools.

Therefore, I wish to extend my sincere gratefulness to those parents, teachers who made their ideas available, for us to constitute and
organize them in this plan which is aimed at developing the school in various aspects. I thank the committee that was entrusted with
the task to draft the SDP for the job well done. ‘God bless you all’.

Furthermore, it gives me great delight to write the forewords for the School Development Plan (SDP) for Omaandi Combined School
of 2020. As a school, we were so eager to find out how other schools improve and maintain their academic results so tremendously.
Question like; “How will we attain our goals with limited resources”? This consulting document will guide the school through a
process of Academic Improvement. The School Development Plan will help the school to achieve its mission, objectives and targets;
create awareness of aspects of management that need to be improved, focus the school’s limited resources on dealing with its most
important needs; develop shared aims amongst teachers and parents, and help to gain their commitment to improve the school and to
enable the school’s stakeholder to measure progress.

It is my belief that, with this document in place, our school will be able to make significant and successful development a reality so
that ultimately, it will not only benefit merely the school or community but the Region at large and all our learners in Namibia.

Let me therefore seize the opportunity to call for the participation of all parties concerned, on the activities outlined here in, with a
sense of purpose, commitment, seriousness and great eagerness.

Thank you!

………………………………………………

School Principal

PLAN OF ACTION FOR ACADEMIC IMPLOVEMENT

11 | Page
Schools are complex organizations. They face a demanding and changing set of challenges. They need to plan to be able to manage
this complexity in order not to be overwhelmed by it. Systematic collaborative planning focused on teaching and learning improves
learner’s achievement.

School planning promotes effective management, teacher professionalism and teacher learning. It is a form of professional co-
operation that is vital for the delivery of a high-quality education service. It builds a team approach to the challenges that Principal and
teachers face in schools and helps them to work together in order to better meet the learning needs of learners.

Taking account of these requirements, schools are encouraged to decide, on the basis of sound evidence, what is important and
achievable in their own circumstances and to chart their course of action accordingly. They are expected to give priority to
developments that have a significant bearing on teaching and learning. The school action plan for educational inclusion, are required
to have a plan as part of their school plan. The action focuses on the following 8 areas: retention, attendance, literacy, numeracy,
examination attainment, educational progression, partnership with parents, and partnership with others – schools, community, and
external agencies. It is a set of action plans specifying:

● Targets for improvement in each area

● Actions or measures to achieve the targets

● Arrangements for monitoring and evaluation

In preparing the Action Plan, schools are expected to collate and analyze their baseline data in the key areas to guide the selection of
targets and improvement measures.
