1. The document discusses various soil mechanics concepts including: properties of soils like water content and void ratio; soil classification methods using plasticity charts; effective stress; permeability and seepage analysis; and compressibility and consolidation. 2. Key consolidation concepts covered are the coefficients of compressibility, compression, and recompression as well as Terzaghi's one-dimensional consolidation theory. 3. Methods to determine the coefficient of consolidation (Cv) are presented, including square root of time and logarithm of time fitting approaches to estimate time factors for 90% and 50% consolidation from consolidation test data.

5. Consistency (For Fine grained Soil)

Consistency represents relative ease with which a soil can be deformed.

# Liquid Limit (WL) - It is the minimum water content at which soil has tendency to flow.

# Liquid Limit (Wp) :: The water content at which

soil sample changes from semi solid to plastic state
is known as Plastic limit.

# Shrinkage limit (Ws) :: It is the smallest value of

water content at which soil mass is completely
saturated. It means that below shrinkage limit, soil
is partially saturated.

# Plasticity Index (Ip)

which describes quantitatively, the
ease with which water flows through
that soil.
