INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVE
At the end of the lesson, students can understand what descriptive text is, its use,
structure, and characteristics.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
 What is descriptive text and its uses?
Descriptive text is a text that explains something. For example, describing people,
animals or objects in terms of shape, characteristics, number and so on.
Descriptive text also aims to explain, describe or reveal a person or an object.

 Generic Structure of Descriptive Text

1. Identification

The identification section contains an introduction and general description


of a topic. Identification functions as an introduction to what we are
explaining. so that readers or listeners do not misunderstand.

2. Description

The description section contains special characteristics or properties


contained in the object, person or animal that you are describing.

 Characteristics of Descriptive Text

Using Simple Present Tense. This tense is used because in descriptive text
we will explain a fact or truth that exists in a thing or person.
Uses a lot of Adjectives. The word Adjective is used because in descriptive
text we will explain the characteristics of an object, human or animal.

We will often encounter many “is” words or relating verbs in descriptive


text. Because ‘is’ which leads to an explanation of the object, person or
animal that we are explaining.

Descriptive text only focuses on explaining one object.

MEDIA USED
- Pictures of the descriptive text object for an example
- An example of descriptive text with the title "My Lovely Cat".

to ask questions followed by
concluding this lesson.
-Closing this lesson.

My Lovely Cat

I have a stray cat as my pet. He is really playful, He loved to play with me and the new things
he found. He has orange and white fur, his fur is so soft and I like to rubs it for him. He has a
long tail. He likes to play with it. He is also always try to catch his tail sometimes. I also like
to hold him in my hand, when i hold him like that he will fall asleep.
