ABB Smart Positioner Quick Guide:

Switching to the configuration level :


1. Simultaneously press and hold “ ↑ and ↓” buttons.

2. Then press “ ENTER” once and release it again. Press and hold ↑ and ↓ until the
countdown from 3 to 0 is complete (duration: approx. 3 seconds).
Note: If you release the direction buttons before the countdown is complete, the configuration

level will not be activated.

3. Release the “ ↑ and ↓” buttons.

Switching to another parameter group : (P1.0 - P2.0...)


1. Simultaneously press and hold the MODE and ENTER buttons.
The display indicates the reference number (top) and the designator (bottom) of the
current parameter group of the positioner.

2. Additionally, press “ ↑ or ↓” until the reference number and the designator of the
desired parameter group are displayed.
3. Release all buttons.
The first parameter of the newly selected parameter group is displayed. The desired
parameter can be adjusted within the group.

Selecting a parameter within a group :


1. Press and hold MODE .

The display indicates the reference number (top) and the designator (bottom) of the
current parameter.

2. Additionally, press “ ↑ or ↓” until the reference number and the designator of the
desired parameter are displayed.
3. Release all buttons.
“ Saving data and Exiting” the configuration level / parameter group:

1. Select the EXIT parameter for the respective parameter group and set it to one of

the two possible states using or :


 NV_SAVE : Activates your changes and saves them in the non-volatile
memory. The positioner returns to the operating level.
 CANCEL : Changes are discarded. The positioner returns to the
operating level.
2. Press and hold ENTER until the displayed countdown from 3 to 0 is
complete.
3. Release the ENTER button.
The positioner returns to the operating level. The configuration level was accessed
from this mode.

How to Open / Close manually:


 Press and hold MODE button.

 Additionally Press “ ↑ or ↓” until display shows P1.2 (manual).

Display shows “hand”symbol.By using “ ↑ or ↓” operate the valve manually.


Auto mode:
 Press and hold MODE button.

 Additionally Press “ ↑ or ↓” until display shows P1.1 (Auto).

CALIBRATION:
Before calibration checking the parameters given below:
 P1.0 - Actuator( Actuator type) : LINEAR/ ROTARY
 P2.3 - Action (Output signal) : DIRECT / REVERSE
 P8.2 - Action (Valve action) : DIRECT / REVERSE.
Note: Please kept both 2.3 & 8.2 are maintain same .

Procedure for Auto Calibration:


 First check the valve open / close condition manually.

 Simultaneously press and hold “ ↑ and ↓” buttons.

 Then press “ ENTER” once and release it again. Press and hold “ ↑ and ↓”

until the countdown from 3 to 0 is complete (duration: approx. 3 seconds).


Display shows P1.0 Parameter group.

 Press MODE button & select parameter P1.1 (auto.adj) by using “ ↑ ” button.

And then release MODE button.


Display shows Start.
 Then Press & Hold the ENTER button. Until the countdown from 3 to 0 is
complete (duration: approx. 3 seconds).
The device displays the message "RUN" in the bottom line and a code number
in the top line.(like 10,20,30,40,50)
 After completing the auto calibration COMPLETED message shown.
 Then Press & hold MODE button , Go to P1.4 by using “ ↑ ” button, for exit.
 Press & hold ENTER button, until the countdown from 3 to 0 is complete
(duration: approx. 3 seconds).
Then display goes normal automatically.
