2. Open well submersible pumps with capacity range from 3 to 120HP in the three-
phase category is a product with immense popularity for its case of handling, high
discharge, and trouble-free operation especially in the agricultural sectors.

3. Mini submersible pump crowned as “SUB-SEVAK” is a new launch and is a first of

its kind. These pumps as well as in three-phase. Its efficiency and capacity to pumps
more to high rise building has earned it a very high reputation and has helped it
created a strong foothold in the domestic market sector.

2.2 PUMPS
C.R.I has five decades of expertise and experience in developing and manufacturing a

from high pressure pumps to small booster pumps, from domestic usage pumps to large
distribution and lift pumps, C.R.I is known for its quality products with its customers
worldwide.

BOREWELL SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS

Borewell Submersible Pumps are vertical, multistage, centrifugal pumps with a motor at
the bottom and a pump on the top. They help in accessing the groundwater which is a
widely used pump in agriculture. C R I Borewell Pump sets are the leaders in the water

BASICS OF BOREWELL PUMPSETS

A borewell pump has a motor at the bottom and pumps on the top. The water entry is from
the bottom of the pump and flows upwards through many stages. The impellers made up
of stainless steel rotate inside the diffusers with inherent guide vanes. With the help of the
diffusers, water is directed from one impeller to the next impeller suction. Such a flow
through each stage of the impeller and diffuser increases the water pressure at each stage
and finally, water is discharged through the outlet from the top.

CRI BOREWELL SUBMERSIBLE PUMPSETS

The primary feature and a significant advantage of borewell submersible pumps is their
capability to be submerged in water instead of being held above the ground. Since the
water pumps are already submerged, they don’t need any priming. The water pressure
itself moves the water into the pump instead of using energy to pump water. These
borewell pumps can handle the fluctuation of voltage comparatively well and can deliver
water even at lower voltages.

CONSTRUCTION OF BOREWELL SUBMERSIBLE PUMP

C.R.I. Borewell Submersible Pump sets are powered by a water-filled, rewindable

submersible motor that is suitable for continuous operation. The stator is wound with
special waterproof synthetic film insulated copper winding wires and made up of low watt
loss silicon steel laminations assembled under pressure and rigidly locked in stainless steel
stator shell. Borewell submersible Pump components are specially designed for the best
possible hydraulic efficiency.

The production is the most important department in the organization and is paid utmost
attention. The Employees involved in production adhere to the organization on contract
basis and are paid based on the number of pumpsets they manufacture.
The production of the components is carried out using both CNC and lathe machines. The
CNC machines are obtained from Korea and are used in case of mass production and the
Lathe machines are obtained from Kirloskar. Two CNC machines are operating in the
main unit, one with single spindle and the other double spindled. In case of double
spindled CNC machine, two separate processes are carried out and two separate monitors
are there to control them. Auto door function is also there in double spindled CNC
machine. The CNC machines are provided with the conveyor for collecting the chips and
these 4 chips are reprocessed into components whereas the ordinary lathe machines are not
provided with the conveyor and the chips collection is performed manually.

12
PRODUCTION IN-PROCESS

The production of in-house machined components is planned based on forecasting

considering the previous week production pending order and stocks. Material needed to
produce as per production plan are acquired from the stores and issued to the operator and
the same is recorded in process inspection notebook.

3.4 MARKETING DEPARTMENT

Marketing department is the application of management tools and techniques in the efficient
utilization available marketing resources. In simple terms it is the management of the
marketing activities. It includes marketing of goods and services, price determination,
market research, sales promotion, publicity etc.

The Indian market has become a lot competitive, particularly in the pump sets industry,
after the period of liberalization. Since there are many brands to choose from, the customer
is finicky (hard to please) about what their wants. This means more focus on better
marketing of products by companies.

17
Marketing is a discipline of management, which helps the company to adopt strategies that
will distinguish them from others as a class apart.
According to Philip Kotler “marketing is a social and managerial process by which
individuals and groups obtain what they need or want through creating, offering and
exchanging products and values with others”. It is one of the most complex tasks that a
company must take up to market their goods. It is the skill of making the customers happy
by giving them the value for their money.

3.5 SALES DEPARTMENT - ORDERS RECEIVING

Orders from customers are received personally or through phone, fax, or email. Order
details are entered in the order transfer form in the system with the details such as
customer name, their requirements including models, HP, and stage, IPM, SGS (inspection
certification by third party), transport, accessories, pay details, The form is sent for
financial approval to the Joint Managing Director.
On JMD‟s approval, the order is checked for its adequacy of requirement. If the
requirements of the order are adequate, order is procured with order information, customer
details, items, quantities, and shipment details. The delivery schedule is obtained from the
production engineer and communicated to the customer through established means of
communication.

If the financial approval from the Joint Managing Director is not obtained in favour,
customers are communicated over phone or mail about their credit rating, and the order is
kept pending until the commercial terms are sorted out. In certain circumstances JMD may
not dispatch pending till approved and send the form further. If the requirements are found
to the inadequate, and when discrepancies are found on special requirements, the customers
are contacted to verify requirements. Special requirements are evaluated by the MD to
ensure that the company can comply. Special requirements/changes are noted on the form.
The form is then sent to the respective department. The same process is repeated when there
is need for any amendment. OTF is then issued to the production and assembly is scheduled.

3.6 ACCOUNTS AND FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Accounting is an input for the finance function. Otherwise, accounting is a sub function of
finance. This generates information or data relating to the operations or activities of the
firm. The product of accounting consists of financial statements like balance sheet, income
statement, sources and uses of funds statements and cash flow statement.

Accounts department can be defined as planning, organizing, directing, and controlling

financial activities in a business organization. So, it is a managerial activity concerned with
planning and controlling of financial management.

Accounts department mainly related with investment decisions, financing decisions,

dividend decisions, and enforcing financial decisions. It deals with finding out of various
sources for raising funds and its effective utilization. It includes cost control, financial
planning, management accounting, standard costing etc.
Although financial management and accounting go hand in hand, they are quite a few
differences between them. In accounting the revenue is recognized at the point of sale and
not when collected. Similarly, expenses are recognized when they are incurred rather than
when they are actually paid.

The Organization was started in the year 1981. Quality alone was their goal at that time.
Since submersible manufactures was not that much popular and competitive, the growth of
the company was not affected. Indeed, the need for submersible increased rapidly due to
the increase in the need for the water. Ground water levels went very low such that
conventional motors like monobloc‟s could not draw water from a depth more than 30
feet. The growth in the early stages of the company is marked with their quality and
market monopoly of open well submersible.

SYSTEM

The manager, system is the sole responsible for the functioning of the system in an orderly
manner. The prime duty of the manager is to identify the application of computer in the
various fields within the company for an improved and effective communication. Now he
is assisted by computer literates who have been placed at latest one in each department.
The manager ensures the smooth functioning of the programs and rectifies the problems
encountered, if any. Any system requirement identified by the staff, or the management is

reported to the manager, system. A system study is done by the manager to assess the
requirement of the software and a feasibility report is presented to the MD for approval of
designing a system.

On confirmation, the systems manager proceeds in developing the software and

implements the same. The proper functioning of the software developed is checked,
verified and necessary modification are done, if necessary to the entire satisfaction of the
