Note 3
Note 3
Definition: Motion of an object along the circumference of a circle or rotation along a circular path.
Definition: A force that acts on a body moving in a circular path and is directed toward the center
around which the body is moving.
Formula: F_c = mv²/r, where F_c is centripetal force, m is mass, v is velocity, and r is radius of the
circle.
Diagram: Showing an object moving in a circular path with the force vector pointing towards the
center.
Period and Frequency: T = 1/f, where T is the period and f is the frequency.
IV. Gravitation
Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation: Every mass attracts every other mass.
Gravitational Force Formula: F = G(m₁m₂)/r², where G is the gravitational constant, m₁ and m₂ are the
masses, and r is the distance between the centers of the masses.
V. Example Problems
Determining the gravitational force between two planets based on their masses and the distance
between them.
