Whole School Reading Approach

Training Completion Report

I- INTRODUCTION

One of the goals envisioned by the Department of Education along with its
dream of a quality education under the K-12 Curriculum is “Every Learner a
Reader.” The ability to read is the most important outcome of education.
Reading is a complex process that involves the ability to speak, recognize,
understand and comprehend a language. These processes have to be juggled
and balanced optimally for a child to learn and improve his/ her reading
abilities throughout childhood.

Reading is a complex process that involves both learning to decode texts and
learning to make meaning from texts. to be effective readers, learners need
to be able to know and use the six components/ elements in reading.
However, reading teachers may highlight individual components at different
times, they are not a set of isolated skills and need to be integrated reading
opportunities across the day.

Through the conduct of this 3-Day District Roll-Out Training of Teachers on

Whole School Reading Approach on January 16-18, 2017 the essential reading

IV- Conclusion

Reading is fundamental. In fact, it is one of the most important ingredients to

becoming all that you can be. Teaching young children to read helps them
develop their language skills. Most importantly, it can not only help readers
become a better pupil, but a better person.

The result that this roll-out training should realize to increase reading
appreciation and complement the formal classroom curriculum with interactive
learning sessions and improve the over-all language competencies of learners
particularly in building vocabulary skills, while refining their knowledge of various
concepts in the field of study.
