Drawing with Artistic Media Tools.

proceed to another editing tool that can create designs through lines and curves.

Drawing with Artistic Media Tools

What is It
One of the main features of CorelDraw is to edit objects or pictures. Aside from
being creative of one’s mind, it is best achieve through the use of the editing tools of
the program. With CorelDraw, Artistic Media Tool is designed to help editing more
easier and more creative.
Artistic Media Tool is a result of CorelDraw powerline features which is now called
“Preset”. It can actually quickly change the tools of a simple object, text or lines into a
state of the art graphics. Using the artistic media tool, you can draw lines of varying
thickness and shapes, paint with sprayer or brush, draw different calligraphic lines.

Artistic Media Tool is located


at the toolbox area.

There are five drawing modes:
1. Preset
2. Brush
3. Sprayer
4. Calligraphic
5. Pressure

You can use the Artistic Media Tool in two ways:


- Drag along the path you want, as with a pencil on paper or freehand.
- Select an existing object like line or circle - apply one of the artistic media
tool strokes to it.

Five Different Drawing Modes

When you select artistic media tool, five drawing modes will
appear on the property bar. It displays the categories or options
you can select for the type of mode you can use. These options will
give you more editing choices to make your creations more fantastic.

1. Preset Mode - lets you draw


preset vector shapes
and curves..

Preset mode allows you to


create lines, curves or strokes with
various thicknesses. You can change
the thickness of the lines using the
options given on the property bar.

To draw a preset line:

1. In the toolbox, click the Artistic media tool.


2. Click the Preset button on the property bar.
3. Choose a preset line from the Preset stroke list box.
4. Drag until the line is the shape you want.

Other editing options:

Set the width of the line.


Smooth the edges of the line.
Apply transformations to line thickness when scaling.
Type a value in the Stroke width box on the property bar.
Click the Scale stroke with object button on the property bar.

You can also choose preset lines from the Artistic media docker. You
can open the Artistic media docker by clicking Effects - Artistic Media

2. Brush Mode - lets you


draw a curve that

To draw curves like a brush paint:

1. In the toolbox, click the Artistic media tool.


2. Click the Brush button on the property bar.
3. Choose a category for the selected Artistic media tool by clicking the drop down
arrow key on the right side.
4. Choose a brush stroke that you want by clicking the drop down arrow key.

Other editing options:

Adjust the smoothness of freehand curves as you create them.


Adjust the stroke width.
Apply transformations to artistic media stroke thickness.

3. Sprayer Mode - lets you


draw by spraying
a series of preset
images.

Sprayer mode allows
you to use a preset images

food. You can choose the
category you need and select
the spray pattern of your
choice. You can even edit the
sizes of the images as well as

To draw a preset images using a sprayer:

1. In the toolbox, click the Artistic media tool.


2. Click the Sprayer button on the property bar.
3. Choose a category for the selected Artistic media tool by clicking the drop down
arrow key on the right side.
4. Choose a spray pattern that you want by clicking the drop down arrow key.

Other editing options:

Edit the spraylist by adding, removing or rearranging spray objects.


Edit the size of the sprayed objects.
Choose the order in which spray objects appear along the stroke.
Set the number of images and Adjust distance or space between objects.
Rotate the objects.
Offset spray objects.

4. Calligraphic Mode - lets


you draw a curve
that resembles a
calligraphic or pen
strokes.

Calligraphic mode
allows you to create a lettering
or pen strokes with artistic
designs. You can edit the
stroke width, the smoothness
of the freehand curve and
the calligraphic angle.

To draw a calligraphic line:

1. In the toolbox, click the Artistic media tool.


2. Click the Calligraphic button on the property bar.
3. Type a value on the Calligraphic angle box on the property bar.
4. Drag until the line is the shape you want.

Other editing options:

Set the width of the line.


Smooth the edges of the line.
Apply transformations to the thickness when scaling.
Type a value in the Stroke width box on the property bar.
Type a value in the Freehand smoothing box on the property bar.

5. Pressure Mode - the effect of
drawing with a pressure
sensitive pen.

Pressure mode allows


you to create a design using a
freehand and with a sensitive
pen. The design of your
drawing will depend on your
on creation. But you can also
edit the width of the lines if you
want.

To draw a pressure-sensitive line:

1. In the toolbox, click the Artistic media tool.


2. Click the Pressure button on the property bar.
If you are using a mouse, press the Up or Down arrow to simulate changes
in pen pressure and change the width of the line.
3. Drag until the line is the shape you want.

Other editing options:

Change the width of the line.


Apply transformations to line thickness when scaling.
Type a value in the Stroke width box on the property bar.
