Template Instructions
These instructions assume that you have access to Photoshop, a Google Account, and the fonts
listed below. I cannot share the fonts directly as some require licenses. You can always use
other fonts in their place, but the goal was to have these templates be as close to the real thing
as possible.

FONTS
1. Install fonts (see below):
a. TABLET GOTHIC – Attack Name
b. TABLET GOTHIC EXTRA BOLD – Skill Names
c. TABLET GOTHIC BOLD – Attack Stats
d. Table Gothic Compressed SB * – Skill Descriptions
e. Monster Movie Oblique – Zombie Character Name
f. Devil Dog BTN – Hero Character Name
* I have this font customized to replace the asterisk with the Power symbol for the game. If you can provide proof that you have
access to the font (send me a screenshot with the phrase “I have access” in the font, for example), I will send you the customized
one

SPREADSHEETS
1. Open the included Google Sheet titled “Sample Sheets”. Then, go to File > Make a Copy.
This will make a copy of the sheet on your own Google Account that you can then
modify.
2. Select the tab at the bottom of the sheet that corresponds with the type of template
that you’re using and follow the specific instructions below

Hero Dashboards
1. The following fields need to be added in all-caps in order to be formatted correctly:
• Hero_Name
• Attack_Title
• Blue_Skill_Title
• Yellow_Skill_Title
• Orange_Skill_Title
• Red_Skill_Title

2
2. For Yellow_Skill_Title, this field is editable, but all currently shown characters have “+1
Action”. This must be entered as ‘+1 ACTION to be formatted correctly. Without the
apostrophe, it will be formatted as a spreadsheet formula
3. Artwork should be set to the full local filepath for that card’s character image. I highly
recommend making your character art square (and a PNG, for hopefully obvious
reasons), as that will allow the data set to properly format the image.
4. There are several fields that will automatically populate from other fields.

***DO NOT MODIFY THE FOLLOWING FIELDS***

• Hero_Mode
• Melee_Attack
• Health_1
• Health_2
• Health_3
• Health_4
• Health_5
• DC
5. Set the following fields to TRUE or FALSE using the dropdowns:
• Zombie_Mode
• Ranged_Attack
• Marvel
6. Enter the stats for your Hero’s attack in the following fields:
• Attack_Range
• Attack_Dice
• Attack_To_Hit
7. Enter your Hero’s skills information in the following fields (See Step i. for formatting
note):
• Blue_Skill_Title
• Blue_Skill_Description
• Yellow_Skill_Title
• Orange_Skill_Title
• Orange_Skill_Description
• Red_Skill_Title
• Red_Skill_Description
8. Enter your Hero’s health in the Health_Amount field.
9. Go to the How to Export Your Data section of this guide

3
Bystander Cards
1. Enter your Bystander’s Name in ALL CAPS in the Bystander_Name field
2. Enter TRUE or FALSE in the Combat field. Select TRUE if you want your Bystander to be a
Combat Bystander
3. Enter your Bystander’s Ability in the Ability field
4. Enter TRUE or FALSE in the Zombie_Mode field. DO NOT MODIFY HERO_MODE, it will
automatically populate.
5. Artwork should be set to the full local filepath for that card’s character image. I highly
recommend making your character art square (and a PNG, for hopefully obvious
reasons), as that will allow the data set to properly format the image.
6. Go to the How to Export Your Data section of this guide

Hero Cards
1. Enter your Hero’s Name in ALL CAPS in the Hero_Name field
2. Enter your Hero’s Toughness in the Toughness field
3. For Secondary_Toughness and Secondary_Toughness_Value
• These will default to FALSE and 0 once you enter a Hero name. You only need
to modify them if your Hero has a Secondary Toughness.
• If your Hero has a secondary toughness, you must set Secondary_Toughness to
TRUE, then enter their Secondary Toughness amount in the
Secondary_Toughness_Value field
4. Enter your Hero’s Ability in the Ability field
5. Enter TRUE or FALSE in the Zombie_Mode field. DO NOT MODIFY HERO_MODE, it will
automatically populate.
6. Artwork should be set to the full local filepath for that card’s character image. I highly
recommend making your character art square (and a PNG, for hopefully obvious
reasons), as that will allow the data set to properly format the image.
7. Go to the How to Export Your Data section of this guide

Spawn Cards
1. Enter the name of the type of unit being spawned in ALL CAPS (ex: WALKERS,
TROOPERS, BRUTES, GUARDS, etc.) in the Spawn_Name field

4
2. Enter TRUE or FALSE in the Zombie_Mode field. DO NOT MODIFY HERO_MODE, it will
automatically populate. It’s important to note that the Mode is what game mode is
being played, not what is being spawned (SHIELD agents are spawned in Zombie Mode,
Zombies are spawned in Hero Mode)
3. Rush and Extra_Activation will automatically populate as FALSE. Only modify one of
these fields to TRUE if you want the card that you’re making to be that type.
4. Enter your spawn amounts (or titles) to the following fields. For regular spawns and
rushes, enter numbers; for extra activations, enter “All “ followed by the type of unit in
ALL CAPS.
• Blue_Spawn
• Yellow_Spawn
• Orange_Spawn
• Red_Spawn
5. Artwork should be set to the full local filepath for that card’s character image. I highly
recommend making your character art square (and a PNG, for hopefully obvious
reasons), as that will allow the data set to properly format the image.
6. Go to the How to Export Your Data section of this guide

How To Export Your Data

1. Make sure that all fields are filled in for the rows that you’re using. The export will not
work if any field is incomplete.
2. While on the tab of the sheet that corresponds to your card type, go to File > Download
> Comma Separated Values (.csv)

How To Use Your Data Set In Photoshop

1. Open the corresponding PSD file
2. I’ve found Photoshop to crash intermittently when importing data sets with images. I’ve
found this to occur less when all folders for layers are collapsed and either the front or
back of the card is hidden prior to importing. Your mileage may vary with this solution.
3. Go to Image > Variables > Data Sets…
4. Click Import

5
5. Select your CSV file and make sure both Use First Column For Data Set Names and
Replace Existing Data Sets are checked
6. Click OK and then click OK again
7. Go to File > Export > Data Set as Files…
8. Select a folder to export to and then hit OK

Manual Adjustments
1. If you’ve made it this far, CONGRATS, you’ve taken the automated process as far as it
can go, from here, we’re on to manual adjustments. I can’t account for every possible
adjustment that will be needed, but I’ll include a few that you’re most likely to
encounter/need:
a. Adjust Character Image size/placement
b. Adjust the length of the Character Name Block to have less blank space and
more closely match the actual ID cards.
i. I recommend to Free Transform this layer and then hold shift and drag
the box to your desired size. This will keep the height the same while
changing only the width
c. Adjust the textboxes for skill descriptions.
i. If you need to expand the textbox without changing the text size, click on
the text with the Text tool and then drag the bounding box for the text to
your desired size
d. Adjust the positioning of skill titles to give more space for certain skill
descriptions
e. Adjusting the Spawn and Rush boxes for longer numbers
i. The PSD for Spawns is only meant to handle double digit numbers for the
Red Spawn level. If you have a double digit number for your Red Spawn,
hide the “Spawn – Boxes” layer and unhide the “Spawn – Boxes
(Extended)” layer. You’ll also need to unhide the extended Red Spawn
text.
f. Adjusting the Extra Activation boxes for longer unit names
i. If you have a longer name for your unit type, hide the “Extra Activation –
Boxes” layer and unhide the “Extra Activation – Boxes (Extended)” layer

Exporting
1. To export an image with extra bleed area for printing, simply go to File>Save a Copy and
then change the file format to JPG and hit Save

6
2. To export the ID card without bleed, use the selection tool to select the area within the
guides (the blue lines on screen, the selection box should snap to them), and then hit
ctrl+shift+c, then go to File>New… and hit Create. This new document should match the
size of what you just copied. Now, just hit ctrl+v and follow the instructions in Step 1
and you’re set to go
3. To export the card backs, just Hide the “Front” folder and follow Steps 1 & 2
