Protocols for Virtual Meetings on Zoom

Dear Students

In order to streamline the discussion and smooth conduct of meetings on Zoom, you are expected to abide

by the following protocols:

1. Download authentic Zoom software from https://zoom.us/download for laptops and PCs. For mobile

devices, use Google Play Store (Android) and Apple Store (iOS).

2. Ensure that your Zoom application is up to date. Download the new version as soon as it is available.

3. It is preferred to attend these meetings on Laptops or Desktop Computers instead of Mobile Phones.

The Mobile battery quickly drains-out due to online streaming.

4. Test your Speaker, Mic Audio, and Internet Connectivity before the start of a meeting. In case of any

technical difficulties, you may reach out to our IT Support Centre at [email protected].

5. Please be on time and try to set up your devices a few minutes before the meeting in order to deal

with any possible technical issues adequately.

6. Students are required to join the meetings with an official GIFT student email account, and all the

participants must mention their complete Name on Zoom Account for their identification. Doubtful

profiles may be blocked by the admin.

7. Students’ camera must be turned “OFF” during a meeting in order to avoid low bandwidth and

internet connectivity issues.

8. Keep your microphones muted, except when you've been allowed by the instructor to speak. Please

use the “Raise Hand” option to get permission to speak. (Open microphones carry echoes as well as

background noises that create a disturbance for all the participants.)

9. Students are encouraged to write down the questions, feedback, comments, and suggestions in the

“Chat”, and actively participate in each session.
