This procedure describes the steps necessary to upgrade or reinstall the Radis SW on the
AXIOM Aristos Image System and to update the system SW.

The “Safety Information“ contained in the system manual and in the particular unit instruc-
tions must be observed.
Integrated circuits and circuit boards on which MOS components are installed call for par-
ticularly careful handling because of their highly sensitive electrical structures and because
of their extremely high input resistance. The ESD regulations that apply for electrostati-
cally-sensitive components must be observed.

OS Installation
• Switch on and insert the CD labeled “O.S. AXIOM Aristos Image System VB30F
(10093849 ) CD1” or higher into the CD drive. To restart, switch the power off and on
again.
• If installation is on the Celsius M410 with a SCSI CD drive and Celsius 400/460/470 ,
follow steps a. and b. below.
If M410 is with an IDE CD drive or another PC such as Celsius M430/M440, proceed to
the next step, skip a. and b.):
• a.Invoke the boot menu by pressing F12 immediately on the initial power-up screen.
For Fujitsu Siemens screens, you have to press the key before the screen displays the
Startup menu.
b. When the boot menu is shown, select SCSI CD Drive and <Enter>.
• When prompted, “Confirm to DESTROY DATA on first...”, confirm with <Enter> . A
reboot will occur and with a M410 with a SCSI CD drive (if IDE CD drive, proceed to
next step, skip a. and b.):
a. Invoke the boot menu by pressing F12 immediately on the initial power-up screen .
For Fujitsu Siemens screens, you have to press the key before the screen shows the
startup menu.
b. When the boot menu is shown, select SCSI CD Drive again and <Enter>.
- If you fail to press the "F12" key at the right moment, there will be an error message
saying "partition not found". Restart the RADIS PC and perform this step again.
• When prompted, set the following values. To navigate, use the arrow keys.
• "Distribution type: Customer"; keep the default value.
• "UDB file: on CD-Rom"; keep the default value.
• Set the correct machine name as recorded (computer name = host name).
Press <Enter>, type in the machine name and press <Enter> again.
• Go to the next line with the arrow keys "Keep data on other partition(s)" and change
the selection to "Create partitions on hard drive 2" by pressing <ENTER> (the
ENTER key will toggle between "Keep data..." and "Clear partitions...").
• Go to "Continue Installation" and confirm with > Enter > Enter.
• Wait until file copying of the installation file starts.
• At this point, the OS will run unattended for approximately 45 min.
• In some cases, a message ““Matrox PowerDesc..” will come up. You can ignore it by
checking “Do not display .”
• At the end of the installation, the unattended installation will stop and a black command
message box will be displayed and will indicate "Warning, no package was found on the
CD. Please install the package manually and press any key to close partially unat-
tended installation …". At this point, click inside the message box and press any key
(except the Enter key - if <Enter> is pressed, no test images will be loaded.).
• Another black command message box will open. Click inside the message box and
press any key (except the Enter key). Deletion of the OEM setup files will now start.
This will take about 1 min. No progress bar will be displayed! A reboot will occur auto-
matically.
• After this reboot, you will be asked for the administrator password. Enter the following:
"adm$pwd$4$med".
Installation of OS Patches
• Insert the AXIOM Aristos Image System VB30F O.S. or higher CD2 (10093849 ) into
the CD drive.
• Open Windows Explorer and double-click on the file
R:\OEMSetup\WIN_UPDT\ inswinup.bat .
• The installation will run unattended for approximately 5 min.
• Double-click on the file
R:\OEMSetup\WIN_UPDT\ insxmlup.bat .
• Wait for the end of the installation. (less than 2min.)
• Remove the CD.
NOTE At this point in the installation, only the time settings may be
checked or changed. All other customer configurations must
be performed later in > Options > Configurations...
• Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Date and Time.
• Go to the tab card “Time Zone” and set the correct Time Zone.
• Check “Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes”.
• Confirm by clicking on “Apply”.
• Go to the “Date & Time” tab card and set the correct Date and Time.
• Confirm by clicking on “OK” and close the Control Panel.
• Insert the Software CD-Rom according the Compatibility List for the AXIOM Aristos
MX/VX, TX or FX into the CD drive.
• Open “Windows Explorer”, select the CD-Rom drive and double-click on the
“start.exe” file. The Installer window opens.
• Click on “OK”.
• Click on the link "Service SW overall installation".
• Choose Full Install.
• Choose (Do not “Create”) > Skip.
• For Aristos TX only: Insert a blank, formatted floppy into the floppy drive of the RADIS
PC and click on "VA02A" (or higher) under "XCU floppy Software of Aristos TX".
A copy routine is started and the floppy is created. When doing this, observe the sys-
tem messages and, where applicable, acknowledge them.
• Label the created floppy appropriately. Keep it for later use.
• Close the Service SW windows and remove CD.

• After starting the Device Manager, select the "Mice and other pointing devices"
hardware components and select the context menu with the right mouse button.
• Connect the serial XCU service cable to the Radis PC.
• Select "Scan for hardware changes".
- If the serial cable is connected, the serial mouse driver will be found and the mouse
cursor will begin to move by itself.
- If the “mice and other pointing devices” was not found, repeat “scan for hard-
ware changes” several times.

• Press Alt + Tab to activate the Device Manager window.
• Use the up/down arrow keys to navigate to "Mice and other pointing devices" (use
left/right arrow keys to open the submenus).

• Select "Microsoft Serial BallPoint".
• Press Enter.
• Press Tab until "Device Usage" is selected.
• Use the up/down arrow keys to select "Do not use this device (disable)".

• The mouse for this hardware profile will now be deactivated for COM 1 and the Device
Manager will display a red cross in front of the deactivated component.

NOTE The fiber optic cables from Radis to XCU and detector plus
the network cable must be removed until instructed to recon-
nect them.
• Insert the first application CD (RADIS_AP cd 1) in CD drive and open the Windows
Explorer (Win+ E) and double-click on "R:setup.exe".
• Confirm (2x) with Next >, Installation start of FD-X
• When prompted, “Please enter RADIS-AP Disk 2” remove the RADIS_AP CD1 from the
CD drive and replace it with the RADIS_AP CD 2. In the dialog box, acknowledge the
CD drive path of (R:\) by selecting OK.
• The installation will continue unattended for approximately 20 min., and there will be a
request for a reboot now or later. Choose “Yes, I want to restart my computer now” >
Finish.
Any alarm messages from the firewall that occur in the interim should be ignored with
“Unblock”.
After reboot, the Syngo count-up screen will automatically start and count up to "99".
The windows desktop will now be visible.
• Remove the CD from the drive.
• Insert the Software CD-Rom according the Compatibility List for the AXIOM Aristos
MX/VX, TX or FX into the CD drive.
• Open “Windows Explorer”, select the CD-Rom drive and double-click on the
“start.exe” file. The Installer window opens.
• Under “Virus Scanner for RADIS”, click on the link “e.g. V7.0(UI) / V7.510
(ScanEngine)” or higher and wait for installation window closes.
• Close the service window.
• Remove the CD from the drive.
NOTE If the customer has no license for the virus scanner, the virus
scanner must be deactivated for legal licensing reasons. For
a customer with a valid license, the following point, “Deacti-
vating the Virus Scanner and Deleting the Virus Pattern”
must be ignored.
• Continue to press Next until you get to the page with a system serial number:
Enter "1" or enter the correct system Serial No., if available, and save.
• A dialog box will state that the system type has been changed, save new values?
Respond with OK.
• Continue to press Next or > until the configuration page is displayed for users: Under
Account for Administrator, enter the password adm$pwd$4$med twice.
Select "save".
• Continue to select Next through the remainder of the configuration pages until “Finish”
and press “finish”.
Do not enter any additional data in the configuration pages during this initial configura-
tion session.
• Select Home when the last page is displayed.
• While the window with a restart request is opening, select OK to restart.
NOTE The restart may take several minutes and may not be inter-
rupted by the user.
Do not shut down the PC manually.
• After the reboot, Syngo will start its count-up screen. Note that the Syngo databases will
be created during this count up.
The Radis Viewer will then come up.
• > Options > Service > Local Service...
• Use the temporary password: 1D328F7ECC927C F46C1F, which is valid until Aug.
30, 2006 (later, a new password for Vendor ID: "1234-SMS -AX-5678" will be needed).
Check “Set as Default”.
• Select "Backup & Restore" > "Command" >"Restore"
• Insert the backup medium.
• Under Drives, select [-R-] CD-R (or [-A-] Floppy Disk).
• Under "Archive", select "..._SW-Settings02_...".
• Under "Groups", select all entries.
• Select "Go" and wait for ready.
• Under "Archive", select "..._SW Settings Calibration....".
• Under "Groups", select all entries.
• Select "Go" and wait for ready.
• Under "Archive", select "..._IQAP_Database_...".
• Under "Groups", select "all".
• Select "Go" and wait for ready.
• To do this:
> Options > Service > Local Service... > Configuration
- > Next
- > Licensing
- Insert the data medium with the new License.dat (it is possible that the new license file
still needs to be renamed to “license.dat”.
- Click on “Browse..” and go to new “license.dat”.
- Click on “Open” > “Import License file” and confirm with “OK”.
- Select “Home” and close the window.

Clone Installation
• Switch on and insert the DVD labeled “Aristos I.S. VB20 M430 Clone” or higher for
M430 or “Aristos I.S. VB20 M440 Clone” or higher for M440.
To restart, switch the power off and on again.
• A menu appears. Chose “3” (Restore).
• Confirm “Are you Sure (Y/N)” with “Y”.
• Ghost starts.
Set highlighting with the cursor key to the button “Continue without marking drives”
and confirm by pressing “Enter”.
• The DVD image is installed. Wait for installation to finish (approx. 15 min.)
• Remove the DVD.
• Restart the PC by pressing “Ctrl.+Alt+Del.”.
• After the restart, enter the host name that was recorded (computer name = host name).
After confirmation with “Next”, the PC will restart automatically.
• After restart, a text file opens. Close the file without any changes and wait for the auto-
matic restart (this may take 5 min.)
• After restart, log in as Administrator.
User: administrator
Password: adm$pwd$4$med
Leave the cables disconnected.
NOTE At this point in the installation, only the time settings may be
checked or changed. All other customer configurations must
be performed later in > Options > Configurations...
• Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Date and Time.
• Go to the “Time Zone” tab card and set the correct Time Zone.
• Check “Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes”.

key.

• Connect the serial XCU service cable to the Radis PC.
• Select "Scan for hardware changes".
- If the serial cable is connected, the serial mouse driver will be found and the mouse
cursor will begin to move by itself.
- If the “mice and other pointing devices” was not found, repeat “scan for hard-
ware changes” several times.

• To do this:

- > Next
- > Licensing
- Insert the data medium with the new License.dat (it is possible that the new license file
still needs to be renamed to “license.dat”.
- Click on “Browse..” and go to new “license.dat”.
- Click on “Open” > “Import License file” and confirm with “OK”.
- Select “Home” and close the window.
NOTE This update takes approx. 30...45 min. and should be done
parallel to the Radis update with the Service PC.
• Connect the Service PC to the gateway master (use the short adapter cable) or use the
Radis PC: Options > Local Service > RADIS Tools > Service Software ...
• Start the Aristos FX service SW.
- Log in with your name. The password is "_Siemens" (case-sensitive!).
• Select Aristos FX SSW >Backup/Restore (1/Fig.1).

• Select Update (2/Fig. 11 / p. 28) and check the status (software version) of the compo-
nents and the "interface tasks" in the status window.
• Select Aristos FX SSW >Backup/Restore>Download (1/Fig. 12 / p. 29).
• Choose Select version (2/Fig. 12 / p. 29).
• In the window that comes up, click on VA03A or higher (3/Fig. 12 / p. 29) and confirm
with “OK”.

• Click on Select all.
• Click on Download selected (2/Fig. 13 / p. 30).
• Wait until the download has successfully finished (observe the status line and the
dimmed buttons).

• Check the software version of all components (Fig. 14 / p. 31) (click on Update); it must
be VA03A (or higher) for all components. (1. in (Fig. 14 / p. 31) means table handle bar)

• Quit the service SW and disconnect the Service PC.
• Switch the system off completely (switch at the control cabinet) and on again.
• Continue with the chapter “Remaining work steps and correction of errors”.
• The check and activation is performed per the instructions “RDIAG and Remote Ser-
vice beginning with SW VB10” AXB4-000.814.03.01 or higher".
Syngo Settings
> Options > Service > Local Service... > Configuration > Character Set
• Choose the option “allow multiple character sets”. Select in the drop-down list” ISO
2022 IR 13” (Japanese).
• Select “Save” and confirm “OK”.
• Select “Finish” and “Home”. Avoid the message about the required restart with Cancel.
• Select “Finish” and “Home” .
• Close the service window.
Regional Settings
> Options > Configuration > Regional and Language Options
These steps are required only if patients were already generated in the database under
another “System type” (e.g. CR).
> Options > Service > Local Service... > Configuration
• Select the correct system type under "System type”, .
• Select “Next” and confirm the necessary restart by clicking on “OK”.
• During restart, log in as Administrator
(During reboot, hold the left <Shift> key)
User: Administrator
Password: adm$pwd$4$med
• Start > Run... and type C:\RADIS\bin\Utilities\DeleteDB.bat manual (there is a
space in front of <manual>)
• Confirm the message “Are you sure...” with “Y”. Go to Start > Shutdown > Restart.
• The RADIS bootup can take longer because the databases and the service patients are
regenerated (up to 20 min.).
To obtain quick access to the exact SW status of all system components, e.g. for service
escalations, this SW Info is copied into the Radis PC, where it can be accessed remotely.
> Options > Service > Local Service... > Utilities
• Under "Source", select "Escape to OS"
• Type < EXPLORER > into the "Parameter" mask (a Windows Explorer will open).
• Go to the folder MED_Data (D): and create a new folder with the name "Service" (right
mouse-click in D:\ folder > New > Folder > rename to "Service")
• Close the Windows Explorer.
• Click on "Home" in the "Utilities" window.
• Go to "Radis Tools".
• Go to "Service Software" and confirm the message with "OK".
• Log into the XCS SSW.
• In the XCS SSW window, click on Info > SW/FW Version. An information window will
open.
• Click on "Print to File"
• In the "Save As" window, browse to D:\Service.
• Do not change the file name.
• Click on "OK".
The SW Info file is now saved in D:\Service and is accessible remotely.
• Close all windows and log off from the XCU.
• Go to Options > Service > Local Service > (enter the password) > Utilities > Escape
to OS > (enter "explorer").
• Click on My Computer > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > Add Printer.
• Configure a network printer (Fig. 16 / p. 36) only if you want to print to a print server
(Fig. 35 / p. 41) and (Fig. 36 / p. 41).
• Select Create a new port and Standard TCP/IP Port (Fig. 17 / p. 36).

• Select printer manufacturer and type, or have the printer’s floppy to load the driver.

• Click on Finish.
• For printer setup, click on Properties (Fig. 28 / p. 39).
• Click on Next.
• In the menu that comes up, enter the printer’s name and path ((Fig. 36 / p. 41) (the
screen shot is in German, please apply accordingly).
• Continue with (Fig. 17 / p. 36).
Generating Backups 0
Using XP Explorer
In Local service:
select > Utilities > Escape to OS > type in Explorer and click on GO. Windows Explorer
opens

- Under “Help”, select “Report Error”

- Please enter the problem here and the name of a contact person and confirm this with
“OK”. The reported information will now be saved in C:\RADIS\Log.
• If there is no SRS, the CSE has to create an ”Error Report" once a week as described
below and to save the log file from C:\Radis\Log and send it to mail to:
