1.What is peer assessment, and why do we use it at the University of the People?

Peer assessment is an activity in which students grade the assessments of their peers. It includes

different forms, depending on the implementation.and context. Peer assessment can be divided into

two groups summative and formative purposes. Summative purpose includes, for example, peer

grading formative purpose includes peer feedback.

UoP uses peer assessment to allow the students to sharpen their critical skills. Another reason is that

the UoP students community is international and peer assessments are a great opportunity that gives

students an insight of perspectives from people all over the world. In my opinion, since the world

became a global village to understand different perspectives is more important than ever before

2.What are the benefits of peer assessment?

Working together allows students to determine each other's areas of mastery and weakness. As a

group of individuals with different perspectives. They discover different ways to overcome

weaknesses and problems. For me, it is a great experience to be part of the UoP community because

I met different people with different perspectives, and learned to become more open-minded.

3.What are the challenges of giving peer feedback in peer assessment?

It includes a grade of risk because some students tend to give the people they know from other

courses a higher grade. Some students give everyone the same mark, which in my opinion, has no

learning and improving effectiveness. Students can be unwilling to judge about heir peers. When I

give feedback, I try to be as unemotional and professional, since it is most important for me not to

treat anyone different or unfair.

4. What are the challenges of receiving peer feedback in peer assessment?

Some students may write their feedback driven by the ego. Different ability levels can become a

problem since some students have limited knowledge of the topic, this can have a negative

influence on the assessment. Giving and receiving feedback means ego management. Some students

find their assessment beyond their expectation, so they disagree and do not accept it
5.What strategies will you use to peer assess written assignments? How will you assess discussion

assignments?

I will always give a topic related and constructive feedback based on facts so that the peer will have

a learning effect. I will give the feedback, the way I would like to receive it topic related,

constructive may with suggestions for improvements
