- The storyline centers on Jasmine pretending to be Zack's former girlfriend, a role she
has played convincingly for years. However, she learns that Zack is about to marry
someone else. Out of the blue, Lena, Zack's actual ex-girlfriend, contacts Jasmine and
requests a favor: to convince Zack to call off the wedding.
2. What do you think is the theme of the story?
- The story's theme revolves around revenge and/or love. With an open-ended conclusion,
readers can interpret the ending as they please. Lena's request to Jasmine may stem
from lingering feelings for Zack or a desire for revenge.
3. Do you think that the problem in the story may happen in real life?
- I do think that the problem in the story, which is how Jasmine couldn’ sort out her
feelings, can happen in real life.

- Lazaro maintains a superior and strict demeanor to ensure that employees show him
respect.

- It is his decision and he wanted it so I do think that he is happy living on his own.

- I think Lazaro may have wept at the story's end as he grasped the idea of going to great
lengths for mere financial gain, and pleading for a few cents brought back unhappy
memories of him.
