Laboratory Activity
Volumetric Lighting
Objectives:

At the end of the exercise, the students should be able to:

 Produce a 3D scene that exhibits the use of different 3D light types

Materials:
 Desktop computer
 Blender software

Basic Principles:

This activity requires the student to produce a 3D scene with the application of lights. Through this activity,
the student could demonstrate their understanding of the different light types and their influence on a 3D
scene.

Instructions:

1. Open the Blender scene file named “Lighting.blend” included in this module. Use this scene file
for this activity.
2. This Blender scene contains no lights. For this activity, you will apply various light types to
achieve the lighting effects shown on the next page.
3. To toggle between active cameras for render, click on the green camera icon on the Outliner.

4. After applying your lights, render and export each of your scenes as a .JPG file named
“LastName_LightType” (ex. DelaCruz_AreaLight, DelaCruz_Spotlight).
5. Save your Blender scene file with the file name “LastName_Lighting” (ex.
DelaCruz_Lighting.blend).
6. Upload your files in the corresponding dropbox in eLMS.
7. You will be graded with the following rubric:
