Being able to have personal differences and traits and still respect others diversity, culture, and

values has many benefits for a leader as a person and a professional. When someone works in an
environment where they are valued and respected for their own background and beliefs, they
become loyal, which benefits a leader and the organization as a whole. The more loyal people
you have, the happier employees are and the more productive they are. This benefits the leader
and the organization in many other ways, such as having a better employer image, improved
retention, which saves the organization money, and higher revenue and outputs for the
organization.

As a leader, being able to respect others diversity and culture also brings more empowerment to
the team. Team members get more comfortable and then begin to develop their talents and skills
without the need for a leader present at all times. This allows them to have more ideas and gives
them the ability to learn from their team members. “When situations provide little guidance and
are loosely structured, a person’s individual characteristics can have a strong impact” (Mishel,
1973; Weiss and Adler, 1984; Zhang, Ilie, and Avery, 2009). By giving team members
confidence in their acceptance of their diversity, culture, and values, it allows them to also learn
problem-solving skills, which is another benefit to the leader as the leader will have more time to
focus on other goals without having to be present at all times.

Managing Emotions and Self-Regulation 8/9, Self-Motivation 9, Empathy for Others 9, and
Social Skills 13. I agree with my results, and for some of them, I agreed halfway. For example,
“I can stay calm in times of crisis”, I marked F. However, I feel that this all depends on the
factors that are considered a crisis. So, if I could score myself, I would score myself as true and
false.

For self-awareness, self-motivation, and empathy for others I responded with true for all. When
it comes to self-awareness and self-motivation, I am a very positive but realistic person, which
combines the two. I am very aware of any negative or positive aspects of myself and am always
willing to learn and get feedback if needed. I only want to grow and be better than I was
yesterday, and that’s when self-motivation comes into play. As for empathy for others, I am all
for it. I am a people person and care immensely about others, how they feel, what they need, or
what can help them.

As for social skills, I am a bit of both an extrovert and an introvert. More so if I feel comfortable
or not or if something is needed, such as school, work, etc. I love meeting new people as much as
I like being alone. Despite me being able to have great social skills, I am not one to challenge the
state of current things and prefer to leave the table if politics are spoken about, as I feel it’s a
personal opinion that can lead to it getting from point A to point B quickly.
