VII. Semester/School Year Offered: 2nd Semester, AY 2022-2023
VIII. Course Description: This course deals with the principles of heredity and variation its application in plant and animal breeding and problems involved in it. It
also includes biometrical treatment of qualitative and quantitative characters of both plants and animals (lecture). This course deals with exercises on chromosomal
basis of inheritance, structure of genetic material and Mendelian and Non-Mendelian inheritance (laboratory).
IX. Course Credit/Unit: 4 units (3 hours lecture, 3 hours laboratory/week)
X. Course/Subject Outcomes: At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Understand fundamental genetic principles and apply that understanding to analyze and manipulate traits in living organisms.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of how genetic concepts affect broad societal issues including health and disease, food and natural resources, etc.
3. Practice the application of genetic information to solve problems and life (personal and professional).
