Purification techniques are essential in medicine and manufacturing to remove unwanted impurities from organic compounds. A variety of purification methods exist that exploit differences in physical properties like polarity, solubility, size, and charge. Proper purification is necessary before qualitative and quantitative analysis of compounds can be done, and is also important for drug discovery and synthesis of new molecules. Choosing the right purification technique depends on the nature and properties of the compound and impurities present. Overall, purification procedures are a fundamental part of organic chemistry and producing pure products.

PM1 REFLECTION CONTENT
Organic compounds when isolated from natural sources or prepared by organic
reactions are seldom pure, they are usually contaminated with small amounts of other compounds which are produced along with the desired product. Before carrying out the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the organic compounds, in order to characterise them, it is very important of purify them. Purification is the main basis for synthesis of new molecules and drug discovery and sometimes we got to use proper techniques for separa tion and purification so that we can get pure drug. If we go to the word purification techniques, one sees that typically made up of purification and techniques. Purifying implies cleaning or removing something that is undesirable, in the event that you see at filtering water, for example, removing unwanted substances or particles from water. Separations and purifications also discover their places in pharmaceutical and the sciences. The filtration of natural compounds is fundamental, in spite of the fact that complex step after its extraction from a characteristic source or synthesis. The method of purification of the organic compound depends primarily on the nature of the compound and the impurities present. There are different types of purifications such as Sublimation, Crystallisation, Distillation, Differential Extraction, Chromatography, and many others, however, it depends upon the nature of substance whether solid or liquid. It moreover depends on the sort of impurities present in it. Each different types of purifications is important in any ways because, organic compounds made in the laboratory contains impurities, and these impurities might affect certain pharmaceuticals. The purification procedure reduces the concentration of contaminants such as suspended particles, parasites, bacteria, algae, viruses, and fungi.
Remember that separation and purification techniques exploit physical properties of
compounds, such as polarity, solubility, size and shape, and charge, to obtain a purified product. These properties can be traced back to intermolecular forces or properties of the molecules themselves. Having a variety of tools and methods to separate and collect a purified product is essential in practical Organic Chemistry, and choosing the proper techniques often requires knowledge and consideration of the desired product.
