This pre-feasibility report proposes a sand mining project in Sanghpur Village, Vijapur Taluka, Mahesana District, Gujarat, India. H.M. Granite & Mineral owns 3.4 hectares of land near the Sabarmati River bed where sand is found. The project would extract 273,360 metric tons of sand per year to supply the growing demand from local construction projects. It would directly employ 3 skilled and 10-15 unskilled laborers from the nearby rural area. Water needs would be met by tankers from Sanghpur Village and diesel generators used on site. No waste is expected to be generated since all material is saleable. Required approvals will be

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Preamble

Ordinary Sand is base of all types of Building works, Construction of Road,

Construction of Cement Concrete road, The need of Ordinary Sand is in all
fields are very essential as it is a compulsory material for all types of
construction, and Industries fields, Ordinary Sand Mines are providing
employments to the local Labour in Rural area, as the labour of rural area
have no any work for labour, They are Unemployed, Thus this proposed mine
is providing work to many labours and it is a good employment.

2.0 Executive Summary

H.M. Granite & Mineral is a Proposed mine, as the demand of construction

material in all sectors is highly necessary, and this project is providing and
trying to fulfil major demands of Ordinary Sand in complete around area.
About 03-40-00 hectare of land is under possession of H.M. Granite &
Mineral At, Village : Sanghpur, Taluka : Vijapur, Dist :Mahesana.

As per the statuary obligation this project needs environmental clearance from
department of Environment and forest dept. (GPCB) Gujarat. it is proposed
Block and to start quarrying operations (production) accordingly project
proponent has submitted form 1, pre-feasibility report and copy of Approved
Mining Plan dually approved by department of mines and geology Gujarat, to
the state level environmental assessment authority of Gujarat constituted by
MOEF, GOI for issuing environmental clearance, as per
O.M.,F.No11011/175/2018-IA-II(M).of Moefcc dated 12th December-2018..

3.0 Introduction of the Project / Background information:

3.1 Name of the proposed unit : H.M. Granite & Mineral

Registered Office : H.M. Granite & Mineral

A-917, Siddhi Vinayak Complex,

S.G. Highway, Makarba,

3
Ahmedabad-51

Location of proposed unit : Village: Sanghpur,

On River bed Sabarmati patt

(Block SP-20),

Taluka: Vijapur,

Dist: Mahesana. (Gujarat)

Name of Owner : H.M. Granite & Mineral

3.2 Brief description of nature of the project:

It is an Ordinary Sand Quarrying; it contains Ordinary Sand which is

used in construction of infrastructures and road, railways and building
construction etc.

3.3 Demand - Supply Gap: As sand is used as raw material in construction

of building and infrastructure projects, the demand of sand is increasing
day by day. In past, demand was not too much but now a days due to
rapid industrialization and urbanization its demand increasing with pace
of time. At present, demand of sand is more than the supply.

3.4 Imports vs. Indigenous Production: In Mahesana of Gujarat, a

number of sand mines are there. There is abundance of sand in the
area; it had become a major source of economy in the area/region.

3.5 Export Possibility: There is ban on sand export to other states in the
Gujarat by Govt. so export possibility of river sand from this area is
marginal. Major consumers of sand located almost in nearby areas in
the district.

3.6 Domestic / Export Markets: Sand produced is used locally as well as

circulated in nearby area. So clearly there is a huge market of sand in
the area.

4
3.7 Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the project:

By this mining project of river sand in the area, peoples get

employment; The project directly generates the employment for the
local people and indirectly for the others. Also the marketing of the
product generates the employment for peoples. By this project,
approximately skilled labours-3 and Unskillled-10 to 15 labours on
project site.

4.0 Project Description:

4.1 Type of project including interlinked and interdependent project if

any : No others material is interlinked with this mining work.

4.2 Location (map showing general location, specific location and

project boundary & project site layout) with co-ordinates : The area
has been marked on Google map including the mining Block location.
This comprises the mining Block near village : Sanghpur, Taluka :
Vijapur, Dist Mahesana of Gujarat location of the mining Block is as
under.

5
6
The geographical location of the project is as follows :

N E

23°30’24.84"N 72°47’44.06"E

4.3 Details of alternate sites, considered and the basis of selecting the
proposed site, particularly the environmental considerations gone
into should be highlighted : No other site is considered for the
Proposed project. The land has been allocated by government for the
mining only. As sand in the river is replenished every year by river so,
site is adequate for sand mining.

4.4 Size or magnitude of operation : B category manual.

The proposed Capacity of Block for 3 years is 2,73,360 MT. Total area
of mining Block is 03-40-00 Ha. The mining operation will be @
2,73,360 MT Tonne Production of River sand per month.

4.6 Raw material required along with estimated quantity, likely source,
marketing area of final products. Mode of transport of raw
materials And finished products :

No raw material is required during the mining process.

4.7 Resource optimization / recycling and reuse envisaged in the

project. If any, should be briefly outlined :

As a result of extraction of mineral, the rate of recharging of ground

water is likely to be increased considerably.

4.8 Availability of water its source, Energy/power requirement and

source should be given :

Total water requirement in the mine will be about 10.0 KLD for drinking

& domestic use, dust suppression and plantation. Drinking water will be

brought by water tanker from nearby village Sanghpur. Diesel will be

used in dumpers and tractors.

Nearby village Sanghpur is well electrified.

4.9 Quantity of wastes to generated (liquid and solid) and scheme for

their Management/disposal :

No waste will be generated. All the material is saleable.

4.10 Schematic representations of the feasibility drawing which give

information of EIA purpose :

According to MOEF mining project containing area ≤5 Ha. are

considered in category B2. Schematic representations of the feasibility is

as under.
