What are Historical Shrines?


Historical shrines are places of religious or cultural significance that have been preserved
over time. It can also be a respected site or structure associated with historical events or
figures. It embodies the historical legacy and values importance to a culture, often holding
religious, spiritual, or commemorative significance.

What is Museum?
A museum is permanent institution and a building in which objects of historical, scientific,
artistic, or cultural interest are stored and exhibited whether it is tangible and intangible
heritage. It is open to the public, accessible and inclusive. It also fosters diversity and
sustainability.

Significance of Historical Shrines and Museums


- The Philippines' historical monuments and shrines remind us of the bravery, struggles,
and sacrifices made by Filipinos over hundreds of years to achieve the freedom we
have today.
- Museums play an important role in the preservation of regional culture. Whatever the
future holds, a culture can be documented and remembered through careful
documentation and artifact preservation.

Historical Markers
Historical markers are installed by the National Historical
Commission of the Philippines in the Philippines and places
abroad that signify important events, persons, structures,
and institutions in the Philippine national and local histories.
